Description Here's my entry for ~BloodyRomantic661 's contest.
Hopefully no rules were bent here....

My view of how Em looked like from The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod. I know they said nothing about her hair being blondish but note that they only said her bangs were burgundy, not her whole head of hair.

Em belongs to Heather Brewer

SIMPLISTIC LEVEL!!!??? Stop beating yourself up, you are an amazing artist!!! I can admire anyone with the patience to work on proportions, perspective, folds, inking, etcetera.

ohmygoshstopityou'remakingmeblush Thank you very much for your flattery, small talk like this helps me boost my motivation to keep drawering. I look forward to seeing your well crafted art pieces!

It's not flattery, it's true. It'll take me a long, long, time to get to your level. And well crafted art pieces? Most of my art is quick sketches that I lose patience with halfway through. Sigh.

ItaloAmericana In reply to SketchyBun [2013-05-31 11:09:45 +0000 UTC]

Haha, yep. I'm working on foreshortening, but i can't seem to get the principle correct. Any tips?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SketchyBun In reply to ItaloAmericana [2013-06-02 17:40:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh man those are the toughest obstacles, hm...I'll be all honest I try my best to avoid drawing foreshortening because I suck just as bad at it. Hmm, my best tip I could give would be is try having an actual model to reference off of. The angles you give your character(s) dealing with foreshortening may not always look correct so it's not against the rules to tweak if not manipulate the body to look correct in it's specific angle. And if it doesn't turn out well at all you can easily put it away to let it be worked on again in a future day, because stressing on one certain thing for drawing can be super non-inspirational and aggrivating.

ItaloAmericana In reply to SketchyBun [2013-06-02 23:00:23 +0000 UTC]

"because I suck just as bad at it." ??????????? What. Are. You. Talking. About? I've tried at other people, you should hear me: "hey <> hold still. Yeah like that. Tilt your head a little. Okay, thanks." That only works for easy angles, though. I'm still on the really basic things, on my best day I can kinda draw a semi accurate anatomy, but that's rare.
Your tip on leaving it for later is a good one . . . I usually find that if I don't do something for a while, my talent suddenly reblooms again. And I'm like: wtf?

SketchyBun In reply to ItaloAmericana [2013-06-05 18:24:50 +0000 UTC]

Well the artist themselves sees more flaws than anyone else does when looking at their own art. I do get ya, even with a legit model to pose for you drawing it on paper doesn't always do justice :[ all there is to do is keep trying at a comfortable pace Lol, isn't that the awesome/strangest of feelings? Glancing back at some works that was even a few months ago and say "How did I not see these errors?"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ItaloAmericana In reply to SketchyBun [2013-06-06 01:06:24 +0000 UTC]

Comfortable pace. That's what I always tell myself, but I'm the kind of person that always expects SO much of herself, so if I don't reach teh goal I feel awful. It's an awesome feeling to look back and see errors though, because I can see what I've improved on.

-floating the same boat as you-
Indeed, it's just your own personal inspiration for most artists. HIgh expectations are a pain, especially when you see it so clear and flawless in your mind XD but try try tryyyying makes up for the hard effort (gawd I sound cheesy)

I know! My imagination's a dangerous place because I start: <> "This is going to be so easy! " Twenty minutes later: "GGGOOOOODDDDAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWRRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! " <> because for 'some' weird reason my most ambitious ideas come when I'm in school.

....are you my lost twin/clone? Your thought process is so similiar to mine It's always school! For me it's work, I think it's because we can draw whenever and however we want when we have our own free time but when we are occupied by something we cannot easily escape we have the undying urge to be creative and it naws at our brain like: OMNOMNOMNOMNOM

im still in school . . . but for me it was Always in science class bc the teacher was old and reeeeeaaalllyy boring, she just droned on and on and on and id just start doodling instead of taking notes and the best thing is i still passed the class bc i have good memory and i can multitask so it was easy and besides i find science really interesting it was just hte teacher. yeah, creativity does chew your brain up especially when your bored . . . heehee and i get so mad at myself bc then my Teachers get really pissed at me and im like AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
