Description
Iago had been restless that day, and the rest of the Nook could feel it. Anyone unlucky enough to get caught in his path was subject to some form of bullying, be it a mean shove or a snappy remark. Most gros were simply opting to stay out of his way, which worked perfectly well in his eyes. Hawea had been weird, and he couldn’t quite figure out why.
He wasn’t the only one to have noticed either. The other nooklings had been whispering not-so-quietly that Hawea seemed pretty excited lately. Of course they were, everyone loved Hawea. Nobody seemed to understand that Iago was superior to the blue fuzzball in every which way.
His blue fuzzball.
He liked keeping Hawea around, if only because he was one of the only gros who kept their mouths shut when he was speaking about important matters, such as the state of the playroom or the fact that adults only sought out the most perfect of children to be their heirs. He had even gotten used to Mercutio, the shimmering beeb that Hawea had situated him with.
He wouldn’t dare call Hawea a friend, that was childish talk that only infants tossed around. Rather, Hawea was an accomplice. The others of the Nook, in all their infinite stupidity, disagreed with this. Immaturity was always so pitiful to look at; they would learn that, once they grew up, friends weren’t an option. Merely accomplices and networks.
As Iago pondered this, he bumped directly into a little feathery quill, making him jump backwards and sneeze. The quill turned around- she was a little snot, couldn’t be older than five- and snapped at him.
“Hey! Cheesy! Watch where you’re walkin’!” The quill’s squeaky voice was grating on Iago already short temper.
A couple nearby wynglings murmured nervously. “Percy, no, not that one…”
Iago scoffed, not paying them mind and focusing his glare on the quill in front of him. “Perhaps blind little snots like you should watch where you’re going!”
“Maybes big stupidheads should watch-where-you’re-going first!” Percy shot back, sticking out her tongue before smirking up at him.
“Perhaps I’ll listen to little brats when they know how to speak properly.” Iago snarled in the unflinching girl’s face before shoving past her and beginning on his way.
Percy, to her credit, wasn’t done yet. She spun around on her heel, almost tripping on her glider wings before barking out, “I ain’t a little brat if I have friends!”
Iago stopped in his tracks, not bothering to look over his shoulder to address the child, “Only babies need ‘friends’. Grown-ups have networks.”
“Nah, only babies are so stupid that their friends go away from them!” Percy was grinning, a mischievous glint to her eyes, “Cheesy’s gonna be all alone when he gets big!”
“Don’t blubber about things you don’t understand!” Iago rolled his eyes with a huff, “You have fun with your posse of idiots, I’ll have people who respect me far longer than that!”
“Suuuuure!” Percy giggled before her magic got the better of her and she began to float off. Stupid baby, couldn’t even keep her magic under control. What a zygote, shouldn’t she be growing in some egg shell about now?”
Iago spat in her direction before stomping off to her room. Stupid little children didn’t know what they were talking about. He had Hawea, and soon, he would have an even greater network that Hawea would be at the top of. Because that blue fuzzball was so daft, he wasn’t going anywhere.
Nope. Hawea would never leave his side.
Never ever.
