The rough experience Matcha had with her labor left her weak for quite some time, weak in a manner she couldn't really hide from her son. Whistle isn't super sure how to feel about it. He's not mad, but he wishes things had gone differently, and it's left him with a weird, heavy feeling in his belly that he can't seem to shake.

When she was awake, Matcha tried her best to tend to both her egg and Whistle equally. She didn't want Whistle to have any bad feelings towards the baby because of how their egg was laid. She would tell him all the fun and difficult things he could expect being a big brother. The baby would need extra attention, yes, but he would get to teach them things like how to play, how to talk, what sorts of things were fun around Stave's Rest. They would get to grow up together.

Whistle thought long and hard about it and settled on something. He was going to make sure that, no matter what, his baby sibling would be just as happy as he was when he got Matcha in his life. But they would be happy from the start. He wasn't going to let anything bad happen to them ever.

He whispered that promise to the egg when Matcha was asleep. He wasn't sure if the baby could hear him through that thick shell, but that was okay, cause they would learn once they hatched. He was going to take care of his family so that he never ever lost it. No matter what it took.
