Like a Canaletto. From one sea-going Empire to another. Perhaps a vision of the drowned World of the future.

You do really great things with my favourite sorts of places, those margins twixt land and sea. It is almost as if you celebrate the great city by its contact with surrounding water, much of which will be under threat of inundation in the next 70 years, which some of your foretells. It reminds me of what Conrad said about the Thames: -
"The old river in its broad reach rested unruffled at the decline of day, after ages of good service done to the race that peopled its banks, spread out in the tranquil dignity of a waterway leading to the uttermost ends of the earth."
I count it as sad that we now appreciate how small the Earth is. It has robbed the great rivers and oceans of their rank as deities. As a confirmed atheist, I still wouldn't mind worshipping Iemanja were she not relatively small. I was sort of getting at that in my piece 'Solidarity with the Ocean'

I'm a verbally dominant dyslexic. I cope with the condition by re-routing my verbal reasoning capacity via my being effusive, emotional and lexically dense. It doesn't mean that I am being insincere.

I mean "Solidarity with the Ocean" is another great piece. I like it at the first view, so a very emotional verbal but brushstroke too
