What an adorable fox that is! It reminds me of old picture books, in a very good way. The fur comes off as incredibly haptic, it´s as if I could run my hand through it.
If there is one thing i could offer as a suggestion for improvement, it would be that the cut and blood flow look too clean: The blood would probably clot in the fur and thus obscure the cut. This of course is a minor complaint in an otherwise beautiful illustration.
Even though fur and background are both really dark, one has no issue differentiating the two, really well done.

Poor little Grennian. Or Whisper. Actually, I've been meaning to ask - was 'The Whisperer' the earlier version of Grennian, or are they different foxes?

Sorry - It's been a while since I've run through the characters and I'd forgotten a few things. I agree with you; Grennian is no 'good guy' to be pitied - at least until we've heard more of his backstory. However, I am inclined to think of Whisper as a 'good guy', despite him not being either completely good or bad. He seems to have regrets, whereas Grennian does not - that's the deciding factor for me.
