Notes: The Type IX.A submarine was a submarine-class of the Type IX Series built for ATP (Auf Tod-Pack) between 1936 and 1937. These U-boats were designed in 1936 and were intended to be fairly large ocean-going submarines. The inspiration for the Type IX.A submarine came from the Type I Submarine , which had a similar diving depth and identical submerged horsepower.
