Description
A little bit of something I've been working on last couple of days, whenever my cats allow me to work.Slightly stuck, since what I need is that weirdo cloak, and I'm unsure how to proceed from there. Second, I have to find a decent set of gloves, since weirdly enough they are that one item which can be hard to find. Third, I'm unsure if I should do that dweeb belt, and I think not. The original late 80s character design was, well, atrocitious, and I have no plans to perpetuate the crime any further (I already ditched the bootception). Fourth, I gotta do the panda-eyes for him as well. I'll probably do it as a geometric shell layer close to skin, since the skin is actually nothing but a shader preset as opposed to actual skin.

I know zilch about the fandom, but this looks cool. What is the HDR you're using here, BTW?
And what should the cloak be like? If it can work as a dynamic item, DynCreator is a very useful script.

It is HDR from some freebie pack -- LA_Downtown_Helipad_Night_A_3k.hdr by "hdr labs", here: www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/archive.h⦠. Looked like the best one to put into use out of all HDRs I got, since most are "someone's apartment" or "nature" and neither were good choices for the character/villain in question.
And the cloak... uhhh, it is complicated. marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Nathanieβ¦

Thanks for the link!
Aha, I see now, the angly mess I'd do this - marvel.wikia.com/wiki/File:Mis⦠- as if it were hair: solid layers (doesn't even have to be separate strips, can be "shells" like older hair), and then transmaps to get the individual feathers. If it's not for distribution or for a freebie, it doesn´t even have to have morphs or rigging: the top (shorter) layers could just be individual static props, and these can be rotated in some range to accommodate poses. And the bottommost long layer can be dynamified.

I actually had a clever solution to it... Blade Angel Wings from Renderosity.

Those do look like they could work
But how did you actually find them? I'm a huge fan of Rendo but their search function is as atrocious as those of other 3D stores.

I didn't "find" them per se, I was reminded of their existence through a convoluted chain of random thoughts; at one point in my early rendering history I had searched for "wings", seen them once, and made a note "those look pretty good" and later seen them used in couple of pics.
I had bought Poisen's Ikarus Wings earlier, and one of the pics in Sinister's gallery looked a bit like that. Light went off in my head, and I tested the Ikarus Wings, which did not work this purpose. But then I recalled "Oh! Blade Angel Wings exist! What about them?" and it went from there. I, errrr, have hard time explaining how my memory/mind works at times, it is like a pool of random thoughts, bubbling furiously, with things bobbing to the surface all of the time and creating a web of connections with each other for a moment to dredge more things to surface.

Ahha, thanks for explaining It actually makes sense
My mind makes those associations too... but outside of stuff I'm immediately working with, recalling specifics is damn tough. Especially names.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but fortunately they had very self-descriptive style, so searching for "blade wings" linked me to the product right away. To be that lucky forever!Β
