These creatures look like they might be closely related to dragons or wyverns, but closer inspection shows them to be their very own family of beasts. They are considered a threat to their ecosystem and the people inhabiting this world. Thus, they are seen fit to be hunted, should someone be brave enough.

The Rootcrawler only appears in the floating forest, a vast array of high floating isles with thick but hardy vegetation and a lot of exposed and dangeling roots where it makes its home (and got its name from). Individuals usually are around 5 meters long, but there has been sightings of an almost legendary Rootcrawler easily twice that lenght. Alltho equipped with 3 sets of wings, Rootcrawlers are not gracefull flyers, and thus solely ambush predators, striking at prey either flying under or next to the islands or wandering the forest floor. They use their wings only to fly from Isle to isle, or if they are especially desperate for food. They have a mild toxin thats secreted through the skin and poisons the roots of the trees, making them a walking environmental hazard. Interistingly, their bite is not venomous, but extremely strong and almost impossible to escape from. Extreme caution is to be had when passing the undersides of the isles, as bigger individuals are known to strike at (and damage) even passing aircraft.
