Description

Made by Harrington & Richardson, Worcester, Mass., from 1905 to 1940 in .32 and .38 S&W as the Third Model "Automatic Ejection". Popular with couriers and payroll clerks. Sold for $7.00 in 1907 ($194.00 today). This "top-break" model has the 3 1/4" barrel, holds 5 rounds and was proofed for smokeless powder. Pictured are cartridges with 125 gr. jacketed hollow-point bullets which are okay to use in this gun. Original load would be a 145-200 gr. lead round-nose bullet with a muzzle velocity of 550-600 feet per second. Strictly a close range weapon. Hammer was enclosed to prevent it catching in a person's clothing during a quick draw.

Last Saturday I went to the shooting range for a try out. Five shots rapid fire are rather painful to the hand due to the small grips and the sharp edges of the frame, but not as painful as getting shot or stabbed by a bad guy.

Where did you get FMJ bullets for that? I thought they only made lead cast in 38S&W.

Those are handloaded Speer Gold Dot JHP bullets in the picture. They are .357" which is a bit undersized for the 38S&W. I have some New Zealand-made army ammo loaded with 178 gr. FMJ bullets which are .360" in diameter and which would work OK.

Very nice gun... this would also be the choice of gang members here in Eugene, for extortions and execution-style killings...

Yes, you would really not want to get into a gun "fight" with it, but for surprising an unexpecting bad guy it would be OK.

It could be a good gun for armed robberies, too... sounds like...
