Description
The full title is "Off the limits insolence until midnight Yeah." It's a translated quote from one of the Katamari songs.I had a small break in my thesis schedule, and decided to make something for Cory Schmitz's thesis. He's making a vidja game magazine and wanted art submissionsssss.

I'm not sure if it's what you were intending, but on the dA Facebook page, when they posted about this piece, they wrote the caption "I spy..". Just wanted to let you know that it brought back some childhood memories of playing with the "I Spy" books in the school library, and I wanted to thank you for that C: Plus, this is just pretty darn fantastic xD

Okay, I'm not a Katamari fan (never played it), but I LOVE this piece! All the detail and the items in the ball/sphere (what would it be called? Sorry, never played the game. XD; ) and I just HAD to download it to look at all the details. I love the 3-Dimensionality of it with the shadow (did you really prop them up to get that shadow? If so, wow and how?), and all the items! Being an old time Titanic nerd (lost the drive when Cameron's movie came out, sadly), I loved her inclusion in this as well.
Well deserving of a DD, and I'm glad for Daily Deviations for showing me art I would otherwise miss, like this!
(Now to look at it again to see what else I can see, teehee.)

I haven't played much of the game, but what I have played was INCREDIBLE fun.
Yes, the pieces are all mounted separately with a piece of foam tape. I did this piece pretty quickly and it is rather small (I can't remember and I have moved so many times I don't remember which box this guy is packed in) but I think the largest side is 12". On pieces where I have more time and more space I will often layer pieces with foam core or cardboard attached to the back of a figure.
I'm really glad you downloaded to get a better view, this one is meant for that!

Absolutely beautiful! There is so much to look at! Love the Titanic, the little old lady with the walker, the narwhal, the audio tape; with the tape pulled out!; the bi-plane and what appears to be a mushroom cloud. Genius!
The composition is really nice, as it the construction. I'm very impressed with the commitment to detail you have displayed here. Each piece is packed full of detail and could stand alone in and of itself. The Titanic alone is amazing with all those tiny windows and the iceberg. Simply amazing.
Fantastic piece. I can't believe it has taken me this long to see it. I'm glad this was given the well deserved daily deviation so it came to my attention. Well done!

Katamari is maybe one of the most creative "casual" game concepts in the last 10 years and the way you depict it totally brings over that Katamari feeling of rolling up everything you meet.
