Description
*Edit: Changed the color of the photo, added noise to the tv to get rid of my reflection, and added vignetting so make it seem more vintage. *larafairie inspired me to go back and re-do itPart of the Otto-man series
Model: Otto Monné
Photo: myself
Picture Information: This photo was done while scouting for a photograph inside of an abandoned area. I took the idea from an amazing photographer *gnato in his photo ([link] ). So in my own attempt to re-create such an amazing shot, I grabbed my friend and looked all over for a spot. This was taken in an old funeral home that was now being turned into another store.
I basically used the tv as a prop and had the model do hand stands all day, so at one point I started to picture shots in my head and got the right angle. It's hard imagining a photo up-side-down when your looking the right side up but the key is to provide a lot less ground room and focus more on the post-work while keeping the details in frame such as the TV and a spuradic Otto
Hope you all like, its proably my first surreal photo/shoot and again, much credit goes out to *gnato for the idea and inspiration

A change is possible only from the known to the unknown, not from the known to the known. Do please think this over with me. In the change from the known to the known, there is authority, there is hierarchical outlook of life 'You know, I do not know. Therefore, I worship you, I create a system, I go after a guru, I follow you because you are giving me what I want to know, you are giving me a certainty of conduct that will produce the result, the success and the result.' Success is the known. I know what it is to be successful. That is what I want. So we proceed from the known to the known, in which authority must exist -the authority of sanction, the authority of the leader, the guru, the hierarchy, the one who knows and the other who does not know- and the one who knows must guarantee me the success, the success in my endeavor, in change, so that I will be happy, I will have what I want. Is that not the motive for most of us to change? Do please observe your own thinking, and you will see the ways of your own life and conduct. When you look at it, is that change? Change, revolution, is something from the known to the unknown, in which there is no authority, in which there may be total failure. But if you are assured that you will achieve, you will succeed, you will be happy, you will have everlasting life, then there is no problem. Then you pursue the well-known course of action, which is, yourself being always at the center of things. - Krishnamurti, J. Krishnamurti, The Book of Life

I'm not sure I have much to add in the way of advanced critique, but I wanted to say 'thanks' for talking at length about the picture and how you arrived at it. It's nice to find when so many people leave one or two word comments on their work, or nothing at all.
Anyway. The main thing that bothers me is the obtrusive watermark; I'd make it more subtle or move it away into somewhere that wasn't the main focus of the image. Yeah, people could rip your pics off, but that's the risk you take posting them online. I'd also have made the vignette a little more subtle, and probably a different shape - I'd want to exclude it from/reduce it in the top left, as that's the focal point of the picture. In particular I don't like the way it overlaps his shoes.
Beyond that though, there's nothing I can point out that isn't pointless nitpicking. It's a really good picture - well done.
