Description
A few months after giving birth to Casino's father Nevan, the dark mage Chance Grayleaf stole away from the village in the midst of the night. She travelled to a far off island, hid herself deep within a cave, and placed herself into stasis for 1,000 years. Her plan was to awaken into an era where the child of prophecy, a descendant of the Grayleaf clan who would be destined to become a hero, had been born. Chance coveted the power of the hero and sought to usurp it.

Unbeknownst to her, this descendant was to be only one more generation away, for it would be her own granddaughter Casino. She awoke into a world where her granddaughter had already lived for hundreds of years and earned a reputation as a hero. Setting the next phase of her plan into action, she returned to the mainland, learned what she could about the hero, and plotted her next course of action. Chance managed to get the jump on Casino and kidnapped her, returning with her to the remote island to perform a ritual to make Casino's power her own.

Her plan was ultimately thwarted, and Chance was imprisoned in the Divine Sanctuary. However, her granddaughters Casino and Mint were forgiving and compassionate towards her, and wanted their grandmother to be a part of their family. The two of them were successful in bringing forth a change of heart, and Chance's lust for power was replaced by love for her grandchildren.

Those 1,000 years ago when Chance abandoned the village, her husband Vega had been left behind to raise young Nevan. Like his wife, Vega too was a scholar of dark magic. The village was plagued by monsters, and Vega was tasked with protecting the village. When it became overwhelming, he resorted to consorting with demons. Forming a pact with an imp, he was able to summon demonic hordes to fight off the monsters each night with great success.

However, Vega had been beguiled. The imp was slowly draining his life force, and Vega would soon perish. The dark scholar sought to cheat death, and so desperate was he that he opted to become a lich. Now undead, the lich Vega had successfully cheated death and escaped from the demonic pact, but it came at a terrible price, for his mind had become twisted with malice.

A powerful necromancer, Casino had fought him and his undead army time and time again, never knowing the terrible truth of the man he once was.

It came to pass that Vega returned once again, yet this time Casino was accompanied by Chance. Fighting through waves of skeletons, they at last encountered the necromancer.

"Chance?", the necromancer uttered in shock, recognizing the woman who had once been his wife.

The dark mage turned pale. "V-Vega? No... No... It... IT CAN'T BE!"

Sadly, Vega was too far gone to be reasoned with, and both parties came to blows. Once the battle was over, both Chance and her granddaughter were shaken up.

Time has passed, and the undead have once again returned. Chance sets out to investigate, hoping it's merely the work of a lesser necromancer. Unfortunately, her worst fears are realized, for after encountering an extremely powerful skeleton, there can be no doubt in her mind that it is the work of Vega.

"Come, Stolas. I fear this dreadful night has only just begun."
