A more plot-centric piece, this page showcases the key character's in Maeve's story:
Maeve, the police officer, whose investigations into a missing nightclub escort will lead her into a life beyond her wildest imaginations.
Cormac, the mob boss, unlucky in love, and soon to face a monster that will topple his underworld empire.
And finally, Cynthia, or Cynaith as the symbiote choose to call itself. The alien progenitor, off to conquer this backwater planet for the Hive.

I just watched it again.
Now, specifically, did the alien eat her?
I saw the alien eating Cynthia's arms and legs.(Page 3-4-5)

Yes, partially eaten.
The alien replaces some of Cynthia's biomass with its own.

No, Cynaith is sort of the villain of the story, the alien out to conquer humanity.
Luckily, Tyler's symbiote was injured, so it didn't "eat" her mind, thus she was able to maintain her "self".

And what about the remaining 5 symbiotes?
Because I know the alien who killed Cynaith had 6 symbiotes and it gave one for Tyler.
Will they assimilate with humans like the alien with Cynaith?
And after a while, Tyler's symbiote will completely control her, and will happen to her and her mind?

Of the remaining 5 symbiote seeds, plot-wise I'm keeping them in reserve. Some will come into play in the future.
In terms of their nature, they will assimilate like Cynaith, unless they are "damaged" like Tyler's.
According to the author, eventually Tyler and Tylix's minds will merge to become a different persona.

To start from the beginning, the "Maeve-verse" began as a one-off symbiote TF request here:
Later, there was another symbiote TF request featuring Maeve and her friend, Alex:
By this point, the series was getting popular, and more characters and their stories were thought up. I was more interested in just creating characters at first, that why I have these (Rin - Profile , Teressa - Profile ) posted, even though their stories are still not certain yet.
As the work was further built-up and discussed with the author (hynden85 ), a more detailed, larger story began to take shape, linking all these characters together. So, I decided to to do a reboot of Maeve - Page 1 , to give the characters, well ... more character, and to link them into the overall plot. At this point it was also decided to change the protagonist's name from "Maeve" to "Tyler", though "Maeve" is still kept as her middle name.
So, after the reboot, the "official" start of the story is at:
