Description
"Come on, you old bucket!", Maya muttered as she gave the door a kick, the concussive maintenance sufficient to override the error. The door opened to reveal the alien artifact, a grey metallic object the size of an ostrich's egg, safely encased in a glass cage.
Maya immediately got to work, getting various instruments to scan, scratch and probe the object. Alien runes were written in a repeating pattern along the surface of the egg, the first clue of it's extra-terrestrial origin. X-rays seems to suggest the egg is hollow, but the hard shell is made of an unknown alloy, resisting Maya's quest to uncover it's secret.
On her Workpad, Maya streamed the data to her colleague working remotely outside the quarantined zone. Alice was more specialized in chemistry/metallurgy, but even she is having a hard time deciphering the readings that Maya is sending her.
Her thought's intent on her discussion with Alice, Maya didn't notice the cracks that appeared on the egg's surface. The alien egg, once frozen solid in the cold void of space, is now warmed up by the bombardment of electronic waves subjected by Maya's testing.
Within moments, a silver liquid flowed out from the cracks, flowing together, rising like a snake. It sensed the electronic waves given off by the Workpad, and reached out for it. The liquid pierced through the armored glass like butter, and continued on till it hits the Workpad.
Maya screamed in surprise as the liquid shattered her hand-held device. Trying to shake it off, the liquid merely flowed around her arms, now attracted by her movement. In a heartbeat, the liquid raced up her arms, covering them in it's metallic sheen.

Artist's Note:
Wasn't able to get the next chapter up in time, so posting the Pin-up first. What will happen next? Let's see from the next Patreon poll results.
Also, am thinking of linking up the Maya pages so they'll form one long strip by the time we're done.
P.S.: Due to some family emergency on Kraid's side, the coming week's posting may be delayed.
