Description:
Shadow was yet another recruit of unknown origin, although his two friends would often vouch for him, mostly on accounts where he woke up in a laboratory and had to face hostile alien forces invading the Earth. While the majority would react with skepticism, a few took it with a pinch of salt, one of them was Christopher North. Christopher the big brown-and-black dog recalled encountering the mountain infested with earwig-like aliens, somewhere in the German region of Lower Saxony, something that Shadow shrugged off as nonsense, but his friends were genuinely shocked to hear that.

Christopher's encounter with Shadow just happened during the starting invasion of the Brisa Creek beavers onto the Californian city of Santo Tomas, when Chris got lost in a heavily grown forest and then stumbled upon a small camp, inhabited by the bat lady, the bulky trigger-happy robot, and Shadow himself. Chris would normally keep the info about Todeswurm parasites to himself, but things turned for the worst, forcing him to find decent, if not strong, potential recruits willing to fight to defend their places. Here however, the bat girl expressed interest in Todeswurm parasites, the gunner robot asked for better upgrades to his turrets, and Shadow curiously requested to see the mountain base.

An hour later, the trio and Chris got up and arrived at the mountain base. The bat girl and the robot were astonished to see many recruits that muscular and so many soldiers that big. The black hedgehog on the other hand was not impressed and attempted to pick a fight with some Super Soldier just to prove his point. That Super Soldier happened to be Marco Chikara Soro, a stuntsman who could handle even the worst of any injuries. Shadow did hand him some near fatal attacks, but Marco quickly recovered and headlocked him against the ground. Shadow's robot companion attempted to ready his turrets to save the black hedgehog, but the bat lady urged Shadow to just surrender. Despite few seconds of struggling persistence, he begrudgingly relented and surrendered, prompting Marco to let him go and apologize for nearly killing him, but then praise him for having a good fight. After the ten-minute talk from Chris, explaining how the MALAKAS Project went, Shadow decided to try it out.

Even prior to the foundation of MALAKAS Project, Shadow happened to be very skilled in firearms and martial arts. He once gave one American general an ire when the hedgehog got involved in the space station disaster that cost the life of the general's daughter. It was also less plausible to believe, mainly due to him recollecting about protecting that woman from intruding aliens. Still, Shadow demonstrated his skills with flying colors all throughout his entire training, even up until he gained the temporary Juggernaut ability, the very position where he could throw away tanks and bombers with little effort.

A week after the day Shadow started his training, even the bat lady partook in joining the MALAKAS Project, as she had already learned almost everything about the Todeswurm parasites. Their robot partner on the other hand remained unchanged, but was given upgrades to his old turrets, just as he earlier requested. Just as the main army of Brisa Creek crept much closer to the mountain base, Shadow and his two friends immediately ran to the defense against the offense.
