Description
This is actually based on my very first but scrapped fanart to the North Korean cartoon Squirrel and Hedgehog. Personally, I want to see any character from that show to become a big, powerful warrior, so here it is. EnjoyΒStory:
Geumsaegi remained off the hook, staying in the Wolf's Den despite the recently botched infiltration operated by his three comrades, mainly Juldarami, Goseumdochi and Geumsaegi's young brother Bamsaegi. Thankfully for him, the three escaped, so the blame was put on his bitter rival Mulmangcho and his brother Oegwipali for the said incident, and they were sent further down the basement, much to Geumsaegi's suspicion. Another night, he snuck out of the base into the forest to have a secret chat with his comrades, regarding the recent update, only to be told to check on where Mulmangcho was brought into, and come back next night.
On the next day, after having attended the morning announcement mandated by Captain Keoteo, Geumsaegi walked back into the command center and went straight downstairs while the wolf soldiers went off to the training grounds. There did he find a path blocked with boulders and debris right in front of him, but then he noticed an alternative path to the right. After walking past several doors, he saw two big wolf soldiers guarding the specific one, and assumed they were holding Mulmangcho and Oegwipali there, but quickly hid by the corner when that door opened. Officer Yeou and Assistant Weasel came out of a door, discussing about the effects displayed by Mulmangcho and Oegwipali. Weasel expressed concerns following the two mice's agonized screams and affection towards each other, but Yeou brushed him off with assurance that those two would become more useful than their pathetic selves. Weasel agreed with reluctance and suggested speaking to the Wolf ambassador about the secret project. Just as Yeou and Weasel left, Geumsaegi was filled with shock regarding that secret project and concerns towards his adverseries' state as well. The curious squirrel plotted to distract or at least stun the two guarding wolves, so as to avoid getting serious attention, but those two happened to be strict and not stupid compared to their incompetent and smaller comrades. Fearing that they were more capable of countering his tactics, Geumsaegi retreated unnoticed.
He came up with another idea: spying on Assistant Weasel, who was already speaking to the Wolf ambassador at the airfield, just a mile away from the Wolf's Den. At noon, Weasel and the Wolf ambassador remained in the airfield, eating lunch, while Officer Yeou drove off back to the main base. Geumsaegi entered the airfield with no suspicion but had to have a hidden spot in order to spy on Weasel. He managed to climb up the roof of a terminal and, by using his binoculars, found Weasel in a cafeteria still conversing with the Wolf ambassador. Weasel reported that the effects on Mulmangcho and Oegwipali last for few minutes, much to the ambassador's satisfaction. The ambassador was aware that those two could easily take down any defender from Flower Hill (Geumsaegi's hometown), but was curious to know whether they could down mechanized defenses as well, in which Weasel answered that they had yet to be tested soon. The ambassador questioned if there were any opposition from those two, and Weasel confirmed that happened once only at the start. This conversation left Geumsaegi much more suspicious regarding the secret project. The Wolf ambassador concluded with a handshake with Weasel, promising to check on the two mice on the next day.
Later at night, Geumsaegi met up with Juldarami again in the same spot in the forest, only to learn that Goseumdochi went missing. On Juldarami's side, Goseumdochi was last seen supervising the training on new recruit hedgehogs few hours ago. Geumsaegi told everything about Assistant Weasel's conversations with both Officer Yeou and the Wolf ambassador. Fearing that Goseumdochi's disappearance was somewhat connected to the secret project, Juldarami offered himself to district two big wolves so Geumsaegi could get info as much as needed in order to get Flower Hill to prepare and counter the possible weapon from the secret project. Out of worry, Geumsaegi pointed out that Juldarami's suggestion was seriously risky, Juldarami agreed but argued that something had to be done, reminding his fellow that Goseumdochi might suffer the same fate as that of both Mulmangcho and Oegwipali or worse. Geumsaegi really wanted to stop the Wolf Army from executing its secret project, but at the same time didn't want to take heavy risks with no way to make a comeuppance against the enemies of Flower Hill, he had no choice but to approve Juldarami's risky move.
Few hours past midnight, the same big two wolves were still guarding the door that held the two mice inside. Juldarami observed the scene and planted a bomb somewhere away from the door, for enemy soldiers were always supposed to deal with distractions that could be a potential threat. The bomb exploded, so the first wolf opted to check out the source, but the second reminded him to stay put as they were ordered to, so the first let out a sigh and remained at his post. In this moment, Juldarami realized two elements: 1) Big wolves were like other wolf soldiers, 2) but should they receive most serious orders, they must not be led astray from finishing them. Juldarami decided he had had enough by giving the first wolf a headshot with a silenced pistol, but this did not kill him and instead sicced both wolves on the squirrel. Juldarami was forced to flee from the two big angry wolves, drawing them away from the door and allowing Geumsaegi to enter through it.
Geumsaegi managed to go down through a basement, where then he saw two lines of chemical chambers and several scientists. After sneaking past said scientists, he noticed a plaque reading 'Head Scientist's Office' on one door, and entered the office. He began looking through several folders until he found two files mentioning Mulmangcho and Oegwipali. Just as he was about to read them, the bottom doors of a bookshelf opened, revealing no one other than Assistant Weasel, shocking the squirrel and prompting him to put the weasel on gunpoint. Weasel admitted he never liked the idea of hiding inside the bookshelf but the head scientist knew that Geumsaegi would infiltrate the laboratory some day. Geumsaegi was surprised to hear what Weasel had said, only to be disarmed and grabbed from behind by the head scientist, whose appearance was a big, muscular brown fox with black and cyan hair, wearing a black wifebeater, dark gray jogging pants, and a pair of black sneakers, which were unconventional for a scientist like him. The head scientist sported a mad grin and laughed evilly, as he threw the defenseless squirrel down further into the testing room.
Geumsaegi recovered and stood up, only to find two big wolves posing to each other, just separated from him by a large glass window thankfully. Although unnerved, he remained firm, until the head scientist revealed that those two used to be little mice. In fact, one of two wolves lacked an ear on his right side. Weasel clarified to the now fearing squirrel through the files that Mulmangcho and Oegwipali experienced both muscle growth and genetic transformation into wolves. Then a feminine figure came out of the shadows behind the window, as Officer Yeou herself, now holding Juldarami and Bamsaegi hostage and disarmed. This filled Geumsaegi with serious anger, causing him to pounce at the vixen. This also prompted the head scientist to come into the testing room and restrained him with handcuffs, so as to start an experiment without resistance. Geumsaegi was forced to stay put shirtless, just as the head scientist prepared a special syringe filled with chemicals, possibly made to initiate muscle growth and wolf transformation. As the two hostages were helplessly watching the experiment, Geumsaegi was injected with 25% of the chemicals, leaving him dazed. The head scientist opted to explain what Geumsaegi undergoing now but the huge figure interrupted him, declaring a 'Normal Phase'. Geumsaegi looked up, only to his horror did he recognize Goseumdochi, now much muscular, sporting spiky hair to resemble hedgehog spikes, and bearing an evil grin. The squirrel saying Goseumdochi's name gave Juldarami and Bamsaegi shivers down to their spine upon recognition. The 'wolfified' hedgehog explained to Geumsaegi how he got here.
Last night, Goseumdochi had finished supervising his new recruits in training and went back home to go to sleep. While he was sleeping, the head scientist managed to sneak in and grabbed him out of his home, but not before dosing him anesthesiac syrup to avoid waking up in the middle of the night. The head scientist also managed to beat down guards without attention on his way to the Wolf's Den, and there Goseumdochi found himself in the same place, except when the two mice's transformation was nearly complete at the time.
Goseumdochi taunted his former friends for failing to look into the secret project deeper, as it would have saved him from this state earlier, and now declared himself not just a traitor to his hometown, but also a permanently wolf warrior, loyal to the Wolf Army. With Bamsaegi horrified and Juldarami infuriated by the head scientist having already kidnapped and transformed Goseumdochi against his will, Geumsaegi asked if the secret project was meant to turn several small soldiers into big wolves so as to capture Flower Hill. Weasel and Yeou admitted that that was meant to be a maximum, as the Wolf Army wanted to use intimidation and fear towards their enemies, and having a few but strong warriors were just enough. However, Geumsaegi began to laugh crazily, catching everyone off guard, before he started growling aggressively and begging for more power. Goseumdochi just laughed it off in pride, acknowledging that Geumsaegi was on a verge of becoming a full wolf. Over a minute, Geumsaegi's laughs were eventually with enraged growls and roars, as his changed body began to outgrow all of his clothes, until the loudest roar occurred. Having admired and felt his own transformed body, 'wolfified' Geumsaegi turned to his two helpless comrades, sported an evil smile, discarded away his old helmet, and encouraged them to join him and the other three warriors. Yeou laughed evilly as she threw Bamsaegi and Juldarami into the testing room where their former friends would inject with the same chemicals. The disgusted Weasel called her out for laughing on their fate, but she noted that they were their enemies to begin with, but Weasel didn't care. The head scientist, on the other hand, widened his mad grin with his arms crossed, muscle growth and wolf transformation took effect on both Bamsaegi and Juldarami, before the end with their loud roars as well.
One month later, Flower Hill was conquered by the Wolves, as the newly transformed soldiers lined up their former comrades and even their fellow citizens into the lab in the Wolf's Den where they would be transformed into big wolf warriors. Mechanized defenses were also destroyed and other means of defense rendered useless, prompting a heartbreaking mass evacuation, but unfortunately only a quarter of Flower Hill managed to flee from the Wolf Army. This conquest was left with mixed reactions from within the Wolf Army itself. Regular wolf soldiers praised the secret project as it decimated the morale of Flower Hill, General Keoteo felt indifferent with the result, Officer Yeou expressed relief and opted to try the secret project on herself, Assistant Weasel condemned the secret project for it could inspire other nations to do the same, and the Wolf ambassador agreed with Weasel out of hesitance and concern as it could draw global backlash, and suggested covering up every conquest the Wolf Army made as much as they could until time would come. General Keoteo also began to notice the head scientist was no longer with them in viewing, because in reality, the head scientist had already left on a private jet early, unveiling the world map to himself. Out of ten cities encircled with red marker, right now he was heading east, just past the sea. He then looked to the sunset with an arrogant smirk.
