Description
Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons Contemptor Dreadnought, Mortis pattern if I remember correctly, wielding two Kheres Assault Cannons.Just a fairly quick painting to test out the modifications I want to do to my Contemptor model to see how they look, before I start actually putting the thing together. Better to make mistakes in a pic than on the actual model, heh.

Love it. Too bad you didn't take more time. I'd have loved to see how it would have turned out if it wasn't a "quick" painting.

Hehe, thanks! I might do a better version of it once the actual model is done - I'll have better reference then.

but this is not Mortis-pattern Contemptor - this one lacks twin rocket-batteries on the top part of hull.

I don't have the relevant IA book with me, so I can't remember exactly which one it is. I just know it can get the two Kheres Assault cannons for like 20 points, and counts as a heavy unit instead of elite.
I may have just forgotten the rocket batteries. XD Or it might be an option that isn't part of the standard loadout, or I might have just used the wrong name. I honestly don't remember. XD;

Actually, Mortis is a variant of Mk. V or Mk. IV Dreadnoughts, and quite simple - only two two-linked autocannons and nothing else.
But Contemptor Mortis, as more ancient and sophistically advanced type of Dreadnought, wield not only assault cannons, but also two rocket batteries, similar to ones used by Terminators-specialists.
here - [link] - is reference to full equipped Contemptor Mortis-pattern Dreadnought.
btw, don't use the phrase "Mortis-pattern Contemptor Dreadnought", you should use "Contemptor Mortis-pattern Dreadnought"...

Finally got my hands on the relevant Imperial Armour: Apocalypse 2nd Edition book. Hooray!
From the IA book - Space Marine Contemptor Mortis Pattern Dreadnought (Contemptor-Mortis Dreadnought):
Weapons & Equipment: Two twin-linked heavy bolters and smoke launchers.
The carapace-mounted cyclone missile launcher is just an option that costs extra points, it's definitely not default.
And I didn't actually call it "Mortis-pattern Contemptor Dreadnought"; you did. I just said it was a Contemptor dreadnought, then further specified Mortis pattern if I remembered correctly.
Which apparently I did, hehehe. Kinda unusual for me, my memory's pretty terrible.
Picture of the Contemptor-Mortis straight from the IA book. Note the lack of cyclone missile launchers.

Hehe, thanks! And yeah, my pre-Heresy models are based on an ice world. That, and the blue/white contrasts the red nicely and makes them stand out.

Hehe, the planet's part of my group's sector that we made up for our games. It's called Hakim, and it's actually a moon orbiting around a gas giant planet called Baharen.
I dunno exactly how cold it is, but it's cold enough that the entire planet is coated in ice and snow. XD Cold enough for Space Marines to go "Hmm, this place is kind of chilly."
