an excellent photo,we have some similar things here in england, but most are more of an orangey red sort of colour and a lot shorter, see them a lot on sycamores, but sometimes on roses and blackberries, never have found out if they are caused by insects or fungus,i believe they are galls?

not at all,i'm from kent,i live in a village in the north kent marshes,on the thames estuary.
this is where charles dickens wrote about in great expectations, miss havershams house was based on the houses that where in this village at the time,a lot of people here died from malaria and a lot of large houses were abandoned, thats the only claim to fame that the area has!

Ooooh I know where that is! *jealous* Must be beautiful. Sorry about the whole malaria and abandonment thing though. I'd still love to see the place. (Funny, I live in a town called Kent, also... but many miles away, and I know it came long after your town. )

it depends really on your definition of beauty!
the marshes are a desolate, windswept place, but that attracted me to the area,i can walk for hours without seeing another person, thats rare now in the south east, there are also some beautiful villages and buildings in the area, some quite old, most of the churches are 11th/12th century, some of the houses date back to medieval times.
with the marshes, the best time is at night though, they become a strange and eerie place, probably haunted!
there are the ruins of an explosives factory out by the sea wall, they closed just after the first world war when there was a huge explosion,a lot of the workers were killed, now a lot of foxes live there,so you can hear what sounds like a child crying being carried by the wind for miles, that is eerie!
when the spring comes,i'll get some more photos of the area on my gallery if you would be interested in seeing them.

Would I be interested... That's a silly question. That sounds absolutely amazing.. I'm planning on visiting England again sometime hopefully soon, so I'll definately put that area on my list. I'm sorry about the explosion :-|

i think something has gone wrong with my replies!!!!
i tried posting them and got something along the lines of "error, unable to send, please try again later" as you can see,i did try later, but just kept getting the same message!!!!
you must think i have lost the plot! i'm not trying to spam you, honestly!
i know what you mean about lack of money! there are so many places in this country that i have never been to myself, but would like to,its just a very unhealthy bank balance thats stopping me,i've given up all hopes of ever becoming rich, but one day perhaps i will get the chance!

I knew it.. You were plotting to spam! But I figured that's what happened - dA has been a little buggy lately.

I *wiiiiiillllllll* go back to England before I die at least. Even if I don't get rich. :-| I would love to see that places that you talk about.

it shows a side of london that people dont often see when visiting,i'm from london myself originally,it was quite a shock to me to see places i know, pubs i have been in,like this now.
one place in england, that i can recommend is the north yorkshire moors,it has to be one of the most beautiful places in the country, now that is bleak and windswept!

Thanks much! ..I don't know where you're from, but in northeast Ohio sometimes there are little growths on leaves.. They could be fungal or something like that, but I don't know. I think they're pretty sweet though.
