"Pray allow me to introduce myself. I am Dr. David Q. Dawson, Basil's close friend and associate."As the quotation suggests, this picture is inspired loosely on Dawson's introduction illustration found on page 3 of Basil of Baker Street. (The quote however is found on page 2 as I note in the image.) Although Paul Galdone's original illustration isn't in colour, you can tell Dawson's bowing slightly and wearing a tweed coat.
