Background:
Born in the icy tundra of the South Pole, Rei was left by his parents for an unknown reason. For thirteen years of his life, he grew up with only his alaskan wyvern, Lumi, fighting to survive. Although born a waterbender and trained by the wyverns in bending methods long forgotten, he kept this power soley to his Lumi and himself and continued to wander the world. However, one day, he -quite literally- crashed into a group of five kids and their sky bison.
One of them introduced himself as the avatar (Rei didn't give a hoot) and offered him a chance to join his gang. Rei refused, at first, but eventually found himself following them atop Lumi, as he refused to ride on the bison. Let's just say that he became an unwilling member of the Gaang.
