Description

While the bandits were having their early lunch, Edric and Oswald were frantically discussing their retreat. According to rumours, the local warlord has become aware of the bandits’ activity on his land. He has now sent all available soldiers to hunt them down.

“…So me and my men saw some knights patrolling the area yesterday. Knights! Not simple soldiers anymore,” Edric said, shaking his head. “This means that the local warlord knows that we’re operating here.”

Edric sighs.

“So what to do now? Now that we’ve done a great effort to catch the beautiful ladies, we just can’t release them, can we?”

“True,” Oswald sadly answered. “Firstly, they’ll report us to the Sheriff for sure. Secondly, it’s too early to make demands. We must really plan on what we will trade for them.”

Oswald looked around uneasily. There was a third group of bandits which hasn’t returned to the camp yet. This group usually operates as scouts. Each time the bandits arrive at a new “hunting ground”, this group usually goes first to survey the area for the other two groups. “Hopefully they haven’t been caught yet,” Oswald thought.

At last the third group returned to the camp. Oswald rose from his seat at the campfire to greet the leader of the group. “You really took your time, Rinan. You made us really worried,” Oswald said.

The leader who is called Rinan looked amused at his brother in arms. “You were worried that those knights would catch and kill us? Not to worry, we got a Noblewoman.”

All of the bandits laughed loudly. “So? Did you actually say that a Noblewoman has decided to hire us? Brother, we’re outlaws. We’re bandits! Who wants to hire us?” Edric laughed.

“No, no, no. Not at all,” Rinan replied. “It’s something much better than that!” Rinan turned around to face his men. “Show our brothers our guest!”

The bandits of the two groups stopped laughing and looked at a well-dressed young blonde woman with her hands tied behind her back, and gagged. She was forced to go towards Edric by one of the Rinan’s men.

“MMPPHH!”

Edric looked at her for some time. Then he turned towards Oswald and Rinan.
“Isn’t she…?”

“Yes,” Rinan replied withouth letting Edric finish his question. “She is Lady Erlene. She owns a castle a couple of miles away from here. From what I know, the castle is poorly protected.”

Edric looked at Oswald. “Do you think what I’m thinking?” Edric asked.

“I think I do,” Oswald said. “We have now a castle in our hands. The warlord won’t dare to attack us just like that!”
