Catching the two was always a challenge, especially Sonic since Grandfather had gifted him unmatchable speed. Even if Shadow always tried to prove he was the faster one between the two of them. Apparently the title of Ultimate Lifeform wasn't enough for the darker hedgehog. Still they got along which was a relief since the Ark didn't have much space to create distance between them. I wouldn't know the perfect word to describe the two yet A healthy rivalry? Brothers?
My arm finally slinged around the waist of the blue hedgehog, pulling him into a one armed hug trap. He seemed to accept his fate and surrender to his captor. I gently squeezed Sonic with a playful laugh, feeling his soft fur against my cheek. My eyes soon landing on Shadow standing a few feet away watching me snuggle his...brother? Yah let's call them brothers.
"Come join in Shadow, I won't bite," I assured him. Holding out my arm to welcome him.
Shadow tried to look all rough and tough, like the cold kind of personality that didn't crave attention. But he was betrayed by the jealous look creeping onto his features. After a long minute he finally padded over and fell into seat against the fabric of my dress. I wrapped my other arm around Shadow who closed his eyes with pretend defiance. His brother watching him as if seeing right through the mask of deception. We both knew Shadow enjoyed the cuddles too.
I sat with the two of them for awhile, bathed in the shimmering light of the stars that watched over us.
