Description I was inspired by a magazine ad I happened to catch in an old Vogue.

This is how The Flash should look - it's great! I've seen attempts to make him look like a sprinter (heavily muscled) due to his speed...but The Flash always seemed to me to be more a long distance runner (thinner, but toned). And, it is an excellent representation of exceptional speed - you did a great job capturing the moment. Great pic!

I'm glad you liked it. And it just never occurred to me that a bag of muscles would be able to sprint long distances anyway. Even the best sprinters don't look like jacked up football players. Thanks for your observations!

Wow! Thats awsome, it reminds me of barry allens death, when he run as fast as he can to save the world.

I love it! Not sure what the original picture was, but the figure of the Flash here looks almost sort of _translucent_...ghostly, like he's not quite here...which is actually sort of appropriate, for someone who might be moving at relativistic speeds. The whole thing looks detailed and yet surreal, and as a last touch, I like how you've done the body itself skinny instead of overmuscled. Speedsters should be _streamlined_, dammit!

Overall: Different, stylish and cool.

You're absolutely right! I never understood why most heroes were heavily muscle-bound. Unless they have Hulk-like powers, I prefer my heroes skinny and athletic (and heroines not top-heavy and wearing high heels...)

Oh, exactly. That's one of the main things I like about the Silver Age (and why my superhero style, once I've drawn enough of them to properly _have_ a style, will be influenced by that era) --everybody's builds and costumes not only look more attractive, but make more _sense_. The female superheroes have reasonable figures, the "slinky supervillianesses" are modestly dressed by today's standards rather than looking all leather-strap dominatrixy, and the guys look like an ordinary healthy man just toned what weight he already had instead of bulking way up.

In fact, in one of the early '60s Green Lantern comics a (female--so much for "girls don't read comics", even back then) reader wrote in to say exactly that about the attractiveness, _and_ added the observation that it makes a super-identity easier to hide in civillian clothes! Which come to think of it...yeah. Forget how stupid a small domino mask is as a disguise, how 'bout overall bulk?

Anyway. Yeah.
