Description
Shaded sketch commission for gryphonpaws over at FA of her dragon character (whom gave me artistic liberties to play with C8)I'm not sure where the time went today. When I had this image rough sketched I started plans on the second sketch of the day and somewhere in there I fell asleep for an hour after I took my dinner break... I guess my lack of sleep is finally catching up to me.
Anyway. My name is Sky and I like the color blue.
Tools: Photoshop CS, Wacom Intuos 3
Time: Unrecorded, started and finished today
Music: Pandora Radio

Wow, this dragon looks so much like the way I imagine my iwn to be, excpet for the color / mane/ number of horns...
The way you draw is absolutely amazing.
Do you mind if I heavily reference my own drawings on this one ? I wouldn't want to be accused of art stealing.

So long as you credit me when you heavily reference the image, that's all I can ask.

Incredible work on scales, they're so accurate and nicely detailed, they add a lot of detail in the picture. Drawing them was certainly worth it.

I love the anatomy, it's so fluid and the blue and the orange complement each other gorgeously.

I wish my scales were this good Might also be a good idea to get a tablet, that might help with contrast and not look like everything is all blending together.
Nice sketch!

My tablet is perhaps the single best artistic investment I've made thus far, I highly recommend.

So if I was to get one, any specific model you would recommend? I was thinking of getting a Wacom Bamboo Capture, I've heard their pretty good.

Bamboos are pretty awesome but I'm not very familiar with the new Capture. I personally use a Wacom intuos3 but you can get the same experience with a normal bamboo tablet. C: The program/product doesn't make the artist after all!

Thx, I was just wondering if you might know anything before I bought one it had some type of glitchy pressure sensor or something. Thx

What do you call a lineart and what a sketch? I don't get it. >.>
π: 0 β©: 1
Skysealer In reply to WhiteChocolateTiger [2011-11-18 16:15:37 +0000 UTC]
Sketches tend to have flaws and far less attention in terms of detail and anatomy where as with line arts I will pay utmost attention to details and try to perfect them the best way I can. :> It's basically going from 'tight' to 'even tighter'.

I always, always, always read my comments; I just don't have the time to reply to them all.

I didn't say that you say that, I just thought like that. xD
And I fully understand you, I don't get much feedback, but sometimes even I don't have time to reply.

I love how the blue complements the orange and yellows of the eyes and mane :3. If you think away the scales the design is quite simplistic, I like that. I do love how your scales always flow so nicely along the forms of the body, it makes sense and therefor it looks very natural.

Eh, a lot of practice with scales over time and they just naturally fall into place.

Agreed. The colour blue is BEST COLOUR EVER!!! NO COMPETITION! XD
I don't think I could ever do this in just one day! D8 Such beautiful lines and love contrast between them warm and cool colours. I hope can I come up with poses as well as you can someday. And your anatomy always looks so spot on. I really must catch one of your streams so I can watch the magic in action.
