On the 1st of December Juliana and the new hire Jaxson Hall began loading up some of the dogs to begin the move over to Iowa while Meeka, Freya, Percy and Eldora were getting ready to head back to Moorehead Island from their week long stay in South Dakota for a hunting and horse show. So far only the main house was fixed up and ready with the stable/barn almost finished and the kennel had just broken ground. The main house had 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, as well as a kitchen and dining room, living room, an office for Juliana and some other rooms that Juliana hadn’t decided what to do with yet. She also had plans for more buildings but for now those three were the most important. For the first move Jaxson and Juliana would be bringing the three pregnant females; Sookie, Widow and Cee. All three had been confirmed pregnant by their veterinarian so extra precaution would be used during the move to ensure nothing happens. The dogs were already well used to long distance travel due to showing so Juliana wasn’t extremely worried, but was still worried enough. They would also be taking the smaller animals; Fraulin the mouse, Paco the parrot, Remi the raccoon and Aiko the rabbit. Plus some house and general things to begin the moving process. It would be an 18 hour trip that would span over two days to give them some time to rest and not drive for 18 hours straight.
When Juliana got to the new land she discovered that the farm had 5 acres of Apple Trees, 2 Acres Mulberry Trees, 1 Acre Peach Trees, 1 Acre Pear Trees, 1 Acre Plum Trees, 3 Acres Grapes and 2 Acres mixed Berries(Strawberry, Blackberry, Red Raspberry, Gooseberries & Blueberries). Everything was overgrown with weeds and would need tending in the spring. It looked like one of the buildings had been a processing area for all the fruits as well, Juliana decided she’d fix that building up and add on to it and salvage any of the processing material that had been left as there was canning and winery parts. It seemed as though whoever owned the land before just left it as it was and never came back one day.
The 12 stall stable with two large open livestock pens and 3 apartments overhead was coming along nicely and would be finished in a week or so. She’d plan on moving the livestock next and more of her staff. She’d have to talk with them and decide on where everyone would live for the time being while the cabins were being built. There was some nice small farming acreage that Juliana was already planning for. She’d have to get the equipment first, which buying the land and fixing everything up had proved to be more expensive than she had initially thought, plus having to buy all the necessities and whatnot. Perhaps the farming equipment would have to wait, for now Juliana shook her head and brought her back to real life, she needed to think of the now, the future will come but at the moment there were more pressing matters at hand.
Juliana quickly joined Jaxson in the unloading of the moving trailers, working on getting the house liveable for Jaxson and the dogs. She was quite excited to own her own land and really work on getting her name out in the dog world. The upcoming litters of puppies would surely help as would all the shows they entered, and Juliana was quickly working on Championing her dogs and getting them their Grand Championships.
It ended up taking most of the day but finally everything was unloaded and put in its place, or at least its place for now.

While Juliana and Jaxson were in Iowa, Valerie and her two kids were heading out to another show, this time held in Alaska and sponsored by the ranch. They brought with them; Mamba, Minerva, Khonsu, Stratus, Coral, Fish, Cider and Fairy for the Glistening Pines We Have Bread UKC show. It only had a Conformation class so there would be no sporting entries and they’d only be there for the weekend.
When the day of the show came, the puppy class was first. Since only three staff had gone, Juliana hired a handler for the show for the extra dog as she had entered 4 puppies and 4 adults into the show. Valerie handled Fish while Ashley handled Coral and Henry, Cider. The hired handler took Fairy into the ring with the others. After the puppy show came the open show where Ashley handled Mamba, Valerie handled Khonsu, Henry handled Minerva and the hired handler took Stratus.
After the show Juliana had Valerie bring everyone to Iowa rather than back to Moorehead Island. She had the main house rather well set up and had a room of 8 kennels for the dogs, perfect number as that was how many Valerie had taken to the show. The pregnant females were allowed to free roam the house while the other dogs were rotated out for the time being. After dropping off the dogs, Valerie and the kids started the drive back to Moorehead Island to start bringing over their own items. Juliana had decided that for now Valerie and her kids would be living with her in the main house until she had time to build the cabins. Though at the moment, it was Jaxson who was living in the main house as Juliana would be going back and forth between places getting everything ready for the slow move over to the new location.

It was now the end of the second week in December and the stable and upper level living areas were now completed and the kennel was still a work in progress. The skeleton of the building and flooring was finished, walls still needed to be put up, electrical and water set up and everything else. Juliana was excited to begin moving the livestock over, but first the Winter at Bryant Park show was going on and Juliana was sending Percy, Jaxson and Freya this time to the show while Ashley and her kids stayed in Iowa at the new location taking care of the dogs they had already moved over. Juliana and Eldora then began to start moving the horses, livestock and all the barn stuff, hiring the help of some movers as there was quite a bit to get moved over in order for everyone to live comfortably. They also began moving furniture over for Percy, Jaxson and Eldora to live in the upper level apartments. They still needed to figure out space for Meeka and Freya to move over, but for now they were focused on moving the animals and such.
While Juliana and Eldora worked on getting the livestock and such moved over and Percy, Jaxson and Freya were at a show, Meeka was left at the ranch on Moorehead Island by herself along with Juliana’s father Rufus. Though Rufus was currently very busy with the holiday season fast approaching he did what he could to help Meeka out with the remaining dogs. Meeka had soon enlisted the help of her younger brother, inviting him to come stay with her during his winter break to help out on the ranch.

The building of the kennel was put into full focus and soon enough it was completed by the 20th of December. Juliana then had the rest of the dogs brought over, deciding to convert some of the spare rooms into bedrooms for everyone. Juliana, Jason, Valerie, Freya and Meeka would have their own rooms while Ashley and Henry would share a room. It would be cramped for a little while, but Juliana had plans for the spring to start working on the cabins, fixing up more buildings and working on the land. For now she was just happy and excited that the kennel was finished and everyone would be moved to Iowa.
Percy had been in California at the Red Sky Show with Barefoot when he got the news that the kennel was finished. He had already been living in Iowa above the stables and was glad that everyone would be at the new ranch.
It took a few days but by the 23rd everyone and everything had been moved over to Iowa and Glistening Pines Ranch was ready to build their name in their new location.

With Christmas tomorrow, Juliana and everyone was rushing to get the ranch ready for the holiday. Juliana was stringing lights up around the house while Percy and Jaxson did the stable and Freya and Meeka did the kennel. Valerie and her two kids were working on the Christmas Tree in the living room.
They had the tree pretty much all finished and were just missing the star now. Ashley looked around for it, not seeing it. “There was a star right?” She asked, looking at her mother and brother.
“Yeah, I had seen it in that box over there.” Henry said pointing.
“That’s what I thought but it’s not there now.” Ashley said looking confused as she double checked the box just in case she had somehow missed it. “Yep, not in there.”
“Uhhhh…” Valerie said as she looked over to see Remi the raccoon atop Widow, running away with the star. “I can’t believe my eyes, but Remi and Widow stole it.” She laughed watching the pregnant dog quickly waddle away as she shook her head.
Ashley and Henry looked over also and bust out laughing. Ashley quickly got her phone out to take pictures and a video. “Oh my god, I can’t believe this is happening.” Ashley laughed.
Soon enough they had the star back and placed upon the tree where it belonged, much to Remi’s dismay. They also got the fireplace decorated and put a wreath above it as well. There was a stocking for each staff member on the fireplace.
The rest of the ranch too was decorated just in time for tomorrow. It still had not snowed in Iowa, so it looked like there wouldn’t be a white christmas this year, but perhaps next year there would be one.
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Christmas morning arrived and Juliana had been busy during the night, the stockings were stuffed with care and presents for everyone under the tree. She had gotten up early that morning as well to cook everyone breakfast. The house was full of dogs and staff as everyone had decided to stay in the main house that night for Christmas morning.
By 6am the house was filled with the smell of breakfast. Juliana had made eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes and sausages. Of course the dogs were the first to be awake and in the kitchen, having been lured by the delicious smells.
One by one the staff began to file down and into the kitchen soon being awoken by the smells as well. Juliana, Eldora and Freya quickly got to work getting the dogs their special christmas breakfast as well. There were currently 17 dogs in the house while the 13 run kennel was full with the rest of the dogs. Normally there were only 8 dogs in the house but since it was Christmas and all the staff stayed in the house, there were some extra dogs. Otherwise the 9 extra dogs were split into groups of 3 and lived between Percy, Jaxson and Eldora up above the stable in the apartments. Nonetheless while the other staff ate the 3 girls got all 20 dogs their breakfast made, for now they only fed the ones in the house and would take out the kennel dogs food once they went out for chores.
Everyone ate breakfast together and once they were full, they helped clean up before heading out to do the chores. They’d be opening presents after all the animals had been taken care of.
When everyone went outside to take care of the animals they saw that it had snowed during the night and they were indeed going to have a white Christmas. They quickly went about the chores, feeding the horses, cows, sheep, goats and fowl who were all in the stable. Juliana had also gotten special Christmas treats and toys/activities for the animals as well. Each horse was given a jolly ball for their stall and a treat while the livestock were given individual treats, their own jolly balls and two molasses licks; one for each pen.
The dogs were given their christmas breakfast rather than treats, but each dog got a chew toy and the dogs in the kennel also got a stuffed toy. Juliana also made sure to turn up the heat in the kennel like she did the stable. She had checked her weather app and seen that there was going to be more snow and below freezing temperatures in the upcoming days.
Thankfully the dogs had sensored doggy doors so they’d only open when the dog was near. She had made sure to close the livestock pens sliding doors, keeping them inside with the horses and not allowing any cold drafts into the stable. Once all the dogs had their outside time, been fed and given their gifts everyone met back up inside to open their own presents.
When they got back inside they were met by the smell of cookies and hot chocolate. Valerie and her kids had stayed inside to bake cookies and keep an eye on the dogs that hadn’t followed the others outside.
“Just in time.” Valerie smiled as she pulled a tray of cookies out of the oven, only for Ashley to hand her another tray for her to put in. “Just putting in the last tray.”
“Oh that smells delicious.” “Cookies!” “Mmmm” “Hot chocolate!” Came the overlapping voices of the staff as they realized what the smells were.
“C’mon everyone, let’s go into the living room, I’ll help with the hot chocolate and cookies and then we can start.” Juliana grinned. “Thank you so much.” She said looking at Valerie and the two kids. “What a lovely idea y’all had.” She smiled.
Juliana, Valerie, Ashley and Henry then brought in the plates of cookies and trays of hot chocolate, setting them on the table for everyone to grab. They all then began to open their presents, faces smiling as everyone saw what they got.
It was a perfect first Christmas in their new home.
