Description
In the early 90's I really began to hone in on my musculature when depicting the male form. Proportions became an exercise in what I deemed to be perfection. I remember knocking this out over a few days and loving the contrast of his sharp armor with his barely there attire.Related content

Thanks Zesty! Looking back at these older works, I'm glad I worked on trying to really get the male body down. Ironically, female bodies were easier for me to draw. But I just had to make the male body sexy, as apposed to just rendering the muscle. This is where I'm at today with every male form I draw. I'm always asking myself "but is it sexy"? Same with the ladies I suppose, and trees, and rocks, and plants,and....
Like when I see your work and all the little details I pick up on,I'm like "those are sexy gloves" or that hair is so..sexy! XD Aside from creating androgynous peeps that are sexy in their own right, you create all kinds of sexy details.Does any of this make sense? Lol!

Yes, that makes sense to me. It's part of what I like about your art. A lot of 'sexy' stuff (whether it's female or male) is soulless, like the individual is a piece of meat on display for the sole purpose of turning people on. Your characters have more life. You think about their names and personalities, who they are, and I think that shows. Perhaps that's part of the "detail" you speak of...?

Hey what's wrong with a "souless piece of meat for the purpose of turning people on"? LOL! And yes, you get it. Some people think sexy is the "obvious" in how much skin they show, or what type of bodies they have etc. Like a good way to describe this would be like, seeing someone in tight clothes with a hot body, and people might say they are sexy. However, when you can tell a person has a hot body under loose fitting clothing...that's sexy. There's also a host of other stuff like mannerisms and a good smile, confidence etc. that makes people sexy. It's Def not just the physical...I mean remember "science is sexy".

It's a subtle and subjective issue, and indeed there's nothing wrong with pure cheesecake art, but if I'm going to really engage with a piece of art (beyond going "he/she is sexy") then I'm a bit more demanding. Sometimes less (skin) is more (sexy). But thinking about it, what I feel from your art is that you care about your characters. And it's totally normal and OK that a big part of that is crafting the most aesthetically-pleasing shape you can for titillation, but it seems like you go beyond that in your creative process. I believe that's what sets your men apart.

well thank you. I just try and give folks what I think looks good. It may or may be their fancy, but it's mine. I feel the same regarding your work, like when I see your earlier work and there seems to be more of a focus on the subject. Now I see greater focus ( if that't even possible) on all the little things like the glimmer of light reflecting and so forth, just really convincing art from you. I'm glad we discovered each other!
