The mountains seemed to go higher and steeper with each step. Keith gently steered the mound of fur underneath him away from the edge of yet another open drop and sighed. They'd been following- something, Keith had no idea. Rocket was leading most of the way, taking free reign to follow what was right for him. They both knew where they were headed, it was just the getting there that was the hard part. A hidden cottage among thousands of miles of rock and ice and they weren't even gracious enough to throw hints in obscure places. The wind blew a chilling breeze toward them and Keith stuck his hands in his pockets for a moment, letting the reigns sit between his thighs as he instructed the Tokota underneath him with voice to avoid frostbite.
"I really need to invest in some gloves," he murmured matter-o-factly, and Rocket seemed to huff at this as he trod on carefully through the snow, his breath appearing for a second with each exhale.
"It can't be further on can it?" Keith asked his companion, more to have an excuse to complain than to actually expect an answer back. Rocket, as such, didn't murmur as he paused mid stride, his ears perked and body standing rigid. Keith took his hands out of his pockets to grab the reigns again in case he were to wander off again but the Tokota didn't move, his eyes staring into the distance towards the snowy peaks as the breeze kept it's chill. The handler looked in the direction his companion was for a moment than up at the path ahead of them.
"It can't be further on." He repeated, this time with a more serious tone to his voice. He stirred his mount once and they started a canter up the hill, keeping an ever more vigilant eye out for the secretive hangout.
