This took all of my life omg.... I was trying to follow yuumei 's 3D background tutorial.It took me like 6 hours! What she does in a breeze took me a million years lol. But I had fun. It was a learning experience, made a lot of mistakes at first and eventually found my groove.
So the background is a 3D model from Google Sketchup that I painted over. sta.sh/21xspehlszbd?edit=1 here you can see the before/ after.
And once I started and began looking for reference, I found this picture and referenced it a lot .
Rules:
1. Anyone can use this if they'd like. In either your pictures or visual novel, I don't care. Just don't reupload the picture unedited.
2. Credit me when you use it.
3. Not required, but please show me if you do use it!
4. If you only reference it, you don't need to credit me.
5. Anyone can use the 3D version in my stash without crediting me.

THANK YOUUU! I really appreciate it! Omg trust me I cannot draw backgrounds on my own/without reference or something. You should definitely try this method out! Taking a picture of an angle you like of a 3D model and painting over it

Thank you! Yeah, definitely. I'm gonna try to have more backgrounds in general and I am also working on an original comic, figured 3D paintover backgrounds would help the overall quality and be faster. I don't want to end up relying on the models though lol but it's faster than if I were to try and draw it myself.

Lmao if you did this, I have no doubt you'd blow the world away. Have you ever tried? It's actually pretty fun and probably takes the worst parts out of the process (like, the grueling hours of figuring out perspective and lining all the details)

No, I haven't! I've goofed around with Sketchup before but that's the extent of it. I think it's a valuable resource that I should also make more use of!
I don't have much patience for perspective and I really try, but I guess my heart's just not in it and nothing I learn seems to stick... I'll keep trying, but in the meantime I'll have to try out Yuumei's sketchup technique!

yeah exactly perspective is just the worst and takes way too long. I have lot of perspective grids saved if you want some lol I've tried to look into perspective a few times myself but I never remember anything and I'm back to making everything wonky and weird. It's pretty easy to determine the perspective when you have a model though. You can prolly put a character in there much easier than if you thought of it all from scratch, more accurately.
