mum: "hey squish, you should design some video game characters!"
brother: "yeaaaaa"
me: "omg yessss"

ok, so, not only did I design a character, I imagined some parts of the game he would be in.

This is Pan, the game starts off with a cutscene of him as a child playing in his home while his mum was humming a song (this song is quite important) his mum tells him to go to bed but he begs her to tell him his favourite stories. It was a story about a group of (I haven't decided what his species is yet) who used magic to protect their people, the leader of the group (Pan's hero) used a magic flute to cast spells. the group vanquished the evil and everyone looked up to them and respected them.

It then skips forward to when Pan is a young teen, he gets out of bed and walks down stairs, past the living room (where the first bit was) and into the kitchen to get a strange looking fruit from a bowl. He hears a knock on the door and he opens it to find his friend at the door. his friend reminds him that they and their other friend had arranged to meet at their special place and that their other friend was waiting for them. They rush out of the door and run into the forest.

Game play starts and you play as Pan, this is the tutorial where you learn the basics of running and jumping and you basically follow your friend to the meeting place, as you get closer you decide to have a race and depending on who wins the cut scene will be slightly different. they meet their other friend and they talk about "the moon festival". suddenly! some beasts emerge from the shadows and you go back into game play where Pan and his friends have to run from the monsters, once you make it far enough, the beasts will surround Pan, one of his friends stays behind (to give instructions on how to fight with a stick you find) while the other runs back to the village to find the village leader. after fighting off as many as he could, pan falls to the ground, exhausted and just when a beast is about to attack, the village leader sends them all flying with one swoop of his staff. He beasts run away and Pan looks up at the leader. he looks at Pan with a disappointed but kind face, and yells the friends to go back to the village.

On the way back, The leader tells them all how disappointed he was will all of them, since he told them to stay out of the forest before. He then told them that they couldn't go to the moon festival as a punishment. Pan's friends run home and the leader walks Pan back to his home. They walk in and they walk past a picture of Pan, his mother and the village leader. They then have a conversation about the leader insisting that Pan moves in with him telling him how he shouldn't live alone anymore. (Pan's mother got sick and died and her brother, the village leader, promised to look after him)

"I promised your mother I would take care of you, but you are making it very difficult!"- Pan's uncle.
"I don't need anyone to take care of me, I'm not a child anymore"- Pan.
"So what happened earlier, I take it you could have handled that on your own?- Pan's uncle.

After a little argument, Pan's uncle tells him that he need to go and organise the festival and he tells Pan to stay home. Of course, Pan doesn't listen and he sneaks out to his friends house. this is in game play and Pan's uncle has told the guards to make sure Pan doesn't leave. you have to do a sneaky thing and make sure no one sees you. you get close to your friend's house when you get discovered by the village elder who takes you back to his house to talk.

The Elder tells Pan that he heard about the incident in the forest and that he guesses that is why he can't go to the festival. Pan goes on about how he can't be trusted and that he just wants to be treated like a grown up and about how he wants to go out an see the world. The Elder asks him if he had ever heard of the Group that protected their people (the group that Pan admired) Pan said he knew about them and the elder took out a long box and handed it to Pan. He opens the box and takes out a golden flute. He hands the flute to pan and as he takes it, all the candles in the room start to burn blue (I like blue fire ok?). Pan then drops the flute (that the elder catches) in surprise of how strange the feeling was. The elder told Pan to take the flute, go home and that he would need the flute very soon (he says this in a rather upset way which confuses Pan). Pan leaves and heads home.

Pan sits in his room while the festival went on, and stares at the flute wondering what the elder meant by him needing it soon. just as he was about to reach out for it, a big explosion happens outside. he runs to the window an hears screaming and sees fire and more explosions. he also sees, in the distance a band of evil looking bandit monster people, on of which yelled out "where is it?! find the flute and bring it to me!!". Pan turns around and looks at the flute, he looks back outside once more before grabbing the flute and running outside.

Game play! you run out and dodge the collapsing buildings and attack the monsters with the flute, you run as quickly as you can to where the festival was and where everyone is, when you get there you see Pan's uncle getting beaten by the bandits. Pan cries out his name and he looks at you, Pan's uncle tells Pan to run. (the rest of the village people were surrounded by monsters and couldn't escape, while the elder was on the floor not moving) The leader of the bandits was about to kill Pan's uncle when Pan cried out loudly and brought out his flute (instinctively), he held it out in front of him, his eyes glowed and his body was surrounded with a blue energy. the bandit looked at Pan in shock and noticed the flute, "Grab it quickly you fools!!!!!". He dropped Pan's uncle and ran for Pan, but before he could get him, he was blown away by a huge wave of energy, all of the monsters and bandits were blown away and they all ran. however, Pan (who now had a pair of small wings) was unable to control himself, his uncle ran to him and tried to snap him out of his trance, but when he grabbed onto the flute, Pan yelled louder and in a bright blast of blue, his Uncle turned into a blue ball of light, as did all the other villagers and they were all merged into a blue orb which landed on the ground near Pan. Pan lowered his staff and collapsed.

Pan woke and looked around, where was everyone? he noticed the elder and ran to him, the Elder opened his eyes and looked up at Pan. "what happened!?" Pan asked in a shaky tone. The elder told him that the flute understood Pan's feelings and it knew he wanted his village to be safe, but that it went to far and sealed the whole village inside the orb, he pointed to the orb, Pan picked it up and took it back to the elder. The elder took the orb, tied it around Pan's neck and told him there was a way to bring them back, He told Pan to look for someone (im not sure who yet) and told him that they knew how. The ender told Pan to leave quickly and that there was no time to waste. With eyes filled with tears, Pan nodded and ran into the forest, behind him, the Elder smiled, "Good luck Pan".
