I suppose, but it makes it a bit more like your peace rather than an exact copy of his. I like the fact it's not as rich in the colours. :3

You really are a very talented artist! I was very sad to hear Frank Frazzeta passed on, he and Boris Vallejo are big inspirations.

My original work sucked ,but I got a job painting portraits when I was 16.As long as I have something to go by I can copy it.
I think they were top illustrators around the same time period and for the same kinda covers like Conan. Boris changed though. He got obsessed with bodybuilders and photorealism.

lol, thats the same thing my mentor told me when I was
16, if you see it you can do it. That also sparked a fire
that burned deeply in my heart. I wanted to accomplish more.
I guess thats why today am a bit obsessed with surreal concept art/design.
I think boris fucked up his flow when the tried to assimilate
the photoreal look. This figure barely integrate well into this scenes. So sad

Thats cool you had someone to spark you. I think obsession is part of being an artist. You get way in deep trying for the mind blowing work you know is in there somewhere.
I agree. Too much homely unessisary detail on the models and not enough on the color wash like backgrounds. Your taken out of the immersion and reminded its just a painting. His earlier work is where he shines.

Yea its always good to have someone help push your limits, far to many artist descend into
depression. Somehow Eccentric artist learns to cope. We all have the visions all we need are the keys to the stash of creative bliss. Some find it sooner than others, I guess it depends on how hard we look.

Sleetwealth In reply to Alphabrush [2010-05-25 16:24:31 +0000 UTC]
Well I descend a lot,but I create my darker work out of that, turn it into something beautiful.
my bliss is when something is going well then I wonder how I made that!

Lol, thats crazy, I totally understand that feeling,
you don't need to be happy or sad to copy works
as studies but you seem to be very emotional,
Only with a heart can one capture the and project
the emotional composition in your creative pieces.
I can tell you've gotten used to
depression, its inspiration. Being happy might
scare you. Getting your heart broken could send you
into a long slump. Your work is serves a visual
narrative, one to painful to vocalize.
I call the emotion I get from your work "depressive Bliss"
lol, I know, its an Oxymoron, at lease thats how it appears to me.

Ive had sadness all my life and yes Im used to it.
I create whats inside and what I think is beautiful and darkness shows her face in it.
Depressive bliss! haha

Ive had sadness all my life and no Im never
used to it. I have 3 options, either I destroy things,
Keep it in and die or just cry. I want to do dark work too!!
maybe that will give me peace. Yup "depressive bliss"

Well Im also medicated now. it helps. I do all of the above except die. I live just to give life the finger.
Some of my darkest times made strong works Im proud of. others were made when I was sick, bedridden, drugged and dazed or in a dreamy way trying to escape reality.
Just do what inspires you and try not to censor or hold back whatever it is dark or not.

I don't like medication, it made me dependent
on it, I if there is one thing I know about meds is that your body will eventually become resistant to it and then the problems seems to compound worse than before. I found a bit of love in a woman my and I feel a tad better.
all you need in life is to love your man or woman, do your art make some money and eat fine foods.
You have had it rough too, thank you for the advise, I will try to free my mind more.

Oh I know it wears off and it cant be good for your body. Some people can take it for a while then theyre better. I was depressed even as a kid. I didnt want to be on pills, but when I stopped I fell apart.
I have love and art. The rest so so, Im privileged to be able to do art I like to do for a living though.

You sound like a person who has found a bit of peace,
Your a good person Nita, good people deserve to be
happy. I too was depressed as a kid, but where I
grew up at the time, no one really understood what
I was going through, I felt very Isolated and suffering
emotionally. Art gave me an outlet, been doing it ever
since, it keeps my clock ticking ^^
I must feel great to work for your self, I am jealous.
Does your income sustain all your needs? If so, its
wonderful.

Yes I am.Soft hearted Art is the thing I put all my energy into and I expect on my deathbed to be making something. Ive been making little friends for myself since I was 8yrs old. People, who never have been depressed dont understand. I hope they never have to.
It is great I cant be told what to do by a boss. I make the amount I think I deserve, I dont have to get up early or drive a long way, people thank me for selling to them which is nice. Im able to pay rent with what I make. I dont make quite enough to sustain all my needs like medical or living good, but I know its all on me I could make more as I work harder and do more, become a better artist.

your gonna die will sculpting, lol, you sound like
one of my favorite futurist artist Syd mead [link] the guy
wants to die holding a paintbrush in his hands, I think
I will follow in you guys foot steps. And I think I
will die alone, lol
Your a soft hearted artist, thats good, the world
need more sophisticated good people. Your emotions
are your guides, with that there are no limits to
how far you will push your art.^^ True, only people
thats experienced depression cant relate. Today
I have so much pain in my heart I don't think my
friend and I will ever be together forever, she has
problems of her own. I have put all my heart into her
but, I think were not compatible. I have never found
anyone that loves me completely. Its all good though
I can be humble and try not to ask much out of people
from now on.
People like us are true artist, and me being higly
eccentric wont help much.
I am happy things are going well with you, keep it
up, I have a good job too, but I havn't been able to
do any real work for weeks, my boss is pretty chill,
But I just cant focus, I don't have peace. Like you
said all you need right now, is just enough to get by.
just living on the edge while young will keep you
hungry and wanting to improve all the time. Everything
will fall into place for you don't worry. Just keep
working hard.

Yup and I hope even then I can feel that feeling that I made something Im happy with. its not so far fetched since I take a lump of clay with me in the doctors office or dentist.
Thats very sad that you gave all of yourself and it didnt work, but theres lots of love in the world to find.
No focus? then probably its not the right job,but right now so many people cant find jobs so hold onto it! Later you can find something more fulfilling...maybe art.

lol, you take a lump of clay to the doctors or dentist,
now thats funny, lol, not a sketch book but clay.
Thats a real artist!!!
Yea, I have deep feelings for this person, but I
know what true love feels like, I wont say anything bad
but I will try and see if she comes around, Im am too
sensitive too, I'm no where near perfect O.O. Thanks,
I will try and keep my head on tight, cant jump ship
till another job is waiting. Lol, yea art is my lifeline.

Well polymer is easy to carry since it doesn't need to be wet and I sometimes use toothpicks to sculpt.
I carry a small mint tin with clay in it. You never know when you'll be bored out of your head or see an object you can press clay on,but you cant take it home. Later you can use that as a mold to get unique textures.

awesome, I like your flow, you just never know
when on the go, when inspiration is high free style
on the fly, pull out the toothpick, not for
your Grin but the contents of that TIN.
You scribble your demons like visual graffiti,
its incredible the forms, evolving, protruding,
including the details, sculpting them hard, extruding,
smoothing them slowly, how glorious it is. Awesome, lol
