"C'mon, I know 'tough' lionesses like you can't resist a rogue when you see one. I'll even be generous and choose more than one of you to be my -- whoa, whoa, WHOA!!"

Vitani is already growling and rushing toward Kopa. She swipes at him; the rogue stumbles back, startled, kicking up dust.

"Whoa, l-let's not be hasty!"

Vitani glares, teeth bared. He's even more pathetic up close. His uncanny resemblance to the king certainly isn't helping him here.

"I'm not gonna tell you again, rogue -- BACK. OFF. I want nothing to do with you and I can guarantee you no lioness in Pridelands will have a creepy little loser like you."

"Y-You -- Wh-What kind of lioness are you?"

Behind her, her Guard chuckles at the display. She glowers at him intimidatingly, standing tall, taller than the measly rogue who gapes at her stature.

"I'm the leader of the Lion Guard," she growls, taking pleasure in how he squirms uncomfortably, "Now get lost before I make you regret ever setting foot here."

"You--" Kopa clears his throat and takes on a more confident tone; but Vitani can still hear his voice shake. "Y-You're just a lioness. You couldn't best me in a fight even if you tried."

Instantly, he realizes the mistake he's made. A devilish grin curls on Vitani's face, her expression one of the most demented and frightening he's ever seen on any creature.

"You wanna bet?"

i know that this is a controversial opinion and i apologize for getting into this so soon after making this account but i really don't like the kopa/vitani ship. i know it's been the subject of controversy in the fandom but i just don't understand the appeal of it, nor the insane fascination with kopa as a character. he's not very interesting and at this point, people put way more stock into his character than it ever really had in the first place. other comic characters like chumvi and tama and malka and even ni are much more interesting to me because they canonically have more attributes. kopa's a blank slate and the biggest simba clone (not that ni or malka or tojo's designs are also clones but simba's son being his clone with none of nala's features is....hm. very disney).

originally, i didn't want kopa to even exist in my headcanon, but i guess at some point, i got fed up and made him into a misogynistic, egotistical, arrogant dick to poke fun at how glorified this character is. and this is the one time vitani closely interacts with him -- to tell him to fuck off, humiliate him, and beat his ass. is he still canon to my headcanon? who knows. either way he's definitely insignifcant and out of the picture.

now, obviously i'm biased (as i connect with vitani so much as to headcanon as lesbian) but the mere conception of the ship is where i take the most issue. what is it about this ship that endears people so much? when i first saw it as a kid, i was like "oh, so it's just a gender-swapped kovu/kiara" but like...is that it? is that really what's kept it going this strong over the years? then again, the fandom did always have the issue of making "generally-accepted" concepts, like ahadi being yellow and a black mane and uru being red with a diamond shape on her head. there are way too many traditions in this community! it's something we need to break from and do our own thing!

additionally (and this is the more annoying thing here), people are just a little too eager to make vitani more feminine or "like a girl" because she's somewhat masculine in canon. that's plain to see form the way they draw her without the features that her unique -- her long snout, her scruffy appearance, her wicked grin. pairing her with a man is somehow meant to "balance her out" as if she needs that. that's definitely hypocritical of me, considering i ship her with kiara but i do feel it's different from when she's written as "straight." implying that vitani needs a dominant figure to balance her scrappy nature out is kinda gross??? as a queer lesbian, it doesn't quite sit well with me so see that but this fandom has always been overwhelming straight.

then again this is kinda getting into the territory of femininst and queer theory so i'll stop the rant there, lol.

(now if you like them together, great! more power to ya! this is simply my view of the whole thing and my view of vitani; that doesn't mean you're wrong for liking a harmless ship. though i think "ship and let ship" is a really dumb mantra for reasons i won't get into, it absolutely applies here. i just feel like queer voices are often drowned out in the fandom and thought i'd give my 2 cents on something that otherwise gets little to no criticism. apologies if i made anyone upset.)
