Description drew this in my spare time

a tau commander in the new xv9 hazard battle suit with a custom rail rifle, since theres no sniper commanders in the tau empire

i dont know a good name for him/her yet (yes it can be a girl) but i need it to be something related to sniping, so far ive got
-commander long shot
-commander lock on
-commander hawk eye

*its been decided that ill be making this commander hawk eye and it will be a female tau commander, keep an eye out for what she actually looks like under the suit

What's "Boom, headshot" in Tau?

Prehaps they just use onomatopoeia, like we do? So it's probably still "Boom", or some similar word

Here's a name I gave to my Pathfinder Squad Shas'ui

Ui'Mont'tyr
Veteran Deathgaze
Then again, he's using a markerlight which in itself can be exceedingly more devastating than a railgun. CAN be, but not always.

R'tyr - long gaze
Or'es'ka - powerful strike
R'ka - long strike
etc.

It's all about the dice roll :/
And what part of the table you roll it on and weather you actually rolled or just dropped 'em :/

True, though, one can only hope enough lights hit the target to boost BS in the least XD

Aralaas In reply to Scarledian [2011-03-09 21:38:04 +0000 UTC]

Mont'yr means "blooded". not "Deathgaze. Just ask O'Mont'yr la, he'll tell you an interesting story or two.
And markerlight rolls to hit are almost ever ones for me as well for some reason. As well as fusion blasters.

Scarledian In reply to Aralaas [2011-03-10 04:34:11 +0000 UTC]

Shit, I meant Mont'tyr.. or something..
I'm a bit of a Tau fanatic and a veteran of 8 or so years of gaming..

The dice love my markerlights ^^
Full Pathfinder team, with the 3 Railrifles and 2 Marker drones, the devilfish with Seeker Missiles and backed up by a Skyray, which also has markerlights.
What's not to love? ^^

I'm working on a lovely Tau Cadre, in particular, N'dras, you may have heard of it, and I'll leave it to speculation as to what my backstory is

I'll give a few protips:

1. Step Formation: Stagger your Firewarriors' advance, one team hangs back to get full range while another moves forward to get rapid fire, do this each turn, as well as falling back, one moves back, the other covers their retreat

2. Assault Firewarriors: Firewarriors with Carbines and EMP Grenades - Anti-tank on a 4+ as well as pinning ^^

3. It Needs More Battlesuits - NO EXCEPTIONS: Always try and take as many Battlesuits as physically possible - 2 for HQ, each with bodyquards who in turn have shield drones, 4 teams in Elites, Broadsides are nice but are easily interchangable with Hammerheads, which in turn are far more durable, but less accurate - though makes up for this with Str6 AP4 Large blast option for its Railgun each turn

I'm 5 Crisis Suits from attaining my lifelong dream of having 2 HQ, each with Bodyguards, and 4 Crisis Teams in Elites - then 2 more teams of 6 stealth suits - I'm filling out all my options so I can have a full army no matter what I choose ^^

Aralaas In reply to Scarledian [2011-03-10 16:21:11 +0000 UTC]

Shit, you've got plans.
I myself am working on a renegade cadre. Tau and kroot renegades, each with special weapon options and abilities, as well as vespid and Eldar. The entire army is specialized and tailored completely to fight space marines, since these are the only ones that I ever meet on the battlefield. One brother and two friends who collect space marines, one brother and one friend who collect chaos space marines and one of these is also picking up The Necron... Oh, joy!
Only Wesley teams as far as the eye can see, and I am the only one collecting a squishy army. The Warpheart alliance would have been eradicated a long time ago had I not been allowed to fight with kroot that rend against chaos and space marines (my invention). There is no chance that I could ever win against these guys in a fair fight.
They're cheating!
By the rules!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scarledian In reply to Aralaas [2011-03-11 03:37:36 +0000 UTC]

Ah, renegades.. see, N'dras was just abandoned, so we seek vengence against the Empire, initially by stealing the schematics for XV8s, XV9s, XV25s, XV88s, AX-10s, Lar'shi'vre, aand I forgot the names of these guys XD: Barracuda, Manta, Custodian and Castellan.
This is only one of the two factions on N'dras, however, one seeks redemption and so remains on N'dras and hopes reacceptance into the Empire, while the other now resides on an Imperial Moon and seeks to enact vengence against the Empire.
My special rule:
Smaller Firewarrior teams, but with +1WS and all Tau models (not kroot or drones - Vespid aren't allowed in the army as they hadn't been found by the time we were abandoned) have the Preferred Enemy Special Rule against other Tau.

My sources also tell me of a rumour floating about that relates to Tau..
there might be a new Tau codex in production for the end of this year or early next year.
And with all codeces, they bring new models.
Namely:
Firewarriors, Crisis and Broadside suits.
And introducing:
XV9s as PLASTIC models
Tallarin Dog soldiers (OH SHIT, OH SHIT, OH SHIT!!! )
Anchor Proc - Kroot Master Shaper (I probably mis-spelled that..)
More Characters and heroes.

And yes, all Imperium Players that play Space Marines, Sisters of Battle or Daemon Hunters are cheating. All Space marines are over powered.

One of my friends, (deviant name Kahiron) made a renegade army from N'dras. His story was that a daemon prince froze the entire world with a curse that lasted until about 16 years before present day 40k. We intend to bring that up in my fanfic.

I only come up with rules for the kroot, they're getting pretty badass.
They use chaos spawns as beasts of war, ride space marine bikes and their highest leader uses magic from the warp to turn her enemies' insides into acid that they vomit up in cascades over their comrades.
But my tau force is being reshaped after Rowan Smith's renegades, they have a codex, so that helps. (And you know what else helps? Autocannons on XV8s! )

Scarledian In reply to Aralaas [2011-03-11 15:59:02 +0000 UTC]

haha, nice XD

Does your friend know that N'dras was abandoned 50 years prior to the present-day 40k?
The daemon prince, fair enough, but I doubt he woulda let them go too easily XD

Oh, let's continue this in note form - I don't think the guy whose deviation we've made this thread on would like what we're doing

An excellent picture. The rail rifle threw me off at first due to XV-9s being designed for close combat...

Any particular reasoning behind the chasis choice?

My Tau cadre commander pilots a reinforced XV-88. (Co-commander really, seeing as I have to use an XV-8 as my HQ choice) Always good to see a fellow rail weapon enthusiast.

word my man, um for the most party i picked the xv9, mostly cause its cool, but also because its thin, agile and looks good as a sniper mech, and i just had this idea in my head to use the rail gun as the base weapon, due to in the actual table top game, how long the rail rifle can shoot and how strong it is

but ya thats really the only reason behind me picking the xv9, other then that i maybe would have picked xv8 or xv22

I'm just so impressed with your work on the XV9, that I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sketching up just 2 of my characters in their XV22 suits.

I've got official concept art of it in various forms, the only thing I'd need is you do place on the proper head and weapons to the corresponding suit.

So if you're cool with it, I could upload those images, and post the links of the suit modeled suits for you to look at.
