Description

A long time ago, there was a group of stoats who made their way to the shores of Long White Island in search of a better life. However, the natives considered these new arrivals to be a threat to the society which they always knew. In response, some of these stoats decided to rebel against the people of the island and its natural habitat, and from that the Starmite Clan was born. Through their advanced practices and knowledge of combat, they managed to bend together well and create a force to be reckoned with - but not to be viable against the traditions and sheer determination of the many tuatara who formed the religious group of Peakism. For many years they were believed to have been disbanded - completely unviable at the very least. However, the country was shook by storm on June 19, 2005 when the announcement was made that they had a new, strong leader who would lead the clan to full victory and control over Long White Island and the surrounding islands - Tiladel van Eretun Fylanne.

Tiladel was created specifically to be a rival to Smith, my other OC. Since Smith was a tuatara, an animal which is endemic to New Zealand, I decided it only made sense for his rival to be an animal considered a foreign predator in New Zealand. The biggest predators for tuatara are rats but I am NOT making a rat OC (for reasons). The other animal that made sense was a stoat, since it's probably the first thing that comes to mind when you think 'New Zealand Predator'. Also, they're a huge threat to birds, so you could probably see a tuatara attacking a stoat as him defending a population of birds, rather than himself, which is a lot more heroic. Now, for this character I specifically wanted to go for less of a traditional Sonic character design and more one akin to Infinite without his mask or Guntz from Klonoa. My original attempt to do this was done at about 11 PM when I was extremely tired and it turned out horrible (and I will keep it hidden for as long as I like). It was done from a front view which was really hard, and she didn't even have sunglasses (which I had already decided she would have when I was originally imagining what she would look like). I eventually decided a side view would be both easy to draw and also menacingly majestic, so I went with it and it turned out well.

Line art done sometime in early March. Colouring started sometime around March 17, finishing touches added early May.
