The first page of a short scene adaption I did for Susan Kay's Phantom. I really enjoy making comics, so I'd like to do this for more scenes and books, if I can. Obviously this is really rough and sketchy and background? What's that? But it was mostly an exercise in conveying character and emotion, and I had fun.

Though I regret to admit that, yes, that is my handwriting at its best.

Some things in case you haven't read the book:
1. Nadir is helping Erik escape Persia; he needs Erik's mask and cloak to disguise a corpse and fool the shah into thinking Erik is dead.
2. Erik just gave Nadir a bunch of jewels from his stash, which prompts the conversation at the top.
3. I opted out of drawing the beginning of the scene because it's basically all dialogue that I can summarize in two lines in the artist description box.
4. This book is amazing.
