Description A study on smoke and water, with some lava thrown in! Painted this while in a hotel room in Germany, on my laptop and my old tablet. So it's a bit rough in places... but it was a fun way to pass the time while I wait for my hubby to finish up work.

You can find the last half hour of this painting on my new twitch channel here: www.twitch.tv/stephshimerdla/v…

You're welcome!

Um, I want to ask for a favor. Do you think you could help me price my commissions? I think you're a really good artist

slshimerdla In reply to SoulfulWingedOne [2016-09-27 06:45:29 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much! I'm humbled that you would think of me to ask, but I'm afraid that's an area where I am pretty clueless. I've looked up stuff online about how much to charge, and have a very little bit of info on the matter that I can share with you. The main point to what I read seemed to be that you need to price the commission based on what it'll be used for. If they're just using it for personal use, you'll charge less than commercial usage, for example. Which makes sense, I'd just never thought about it.

Beyond that, I am horrible at figuring out commission prices, I'm sorry! I tend to want to undercharge, and when I start marketing myself for professional work, I'm going to have to have an agent or someone do my negotiations for me, at least at first.

If you're looking for ideas on how much to charge people here on DA, though, my best advice would be to look around at different artists that you feel like are a similar skill level to you and see what they're charging (or even above and below you, then take an average).

Wish I could help more, but hopefully this helps get you started!

From the fires of Muspellheim and the waters of Niflheim came a new world...
(That's what this reminds me of. Wonderful artwork by the way.)

I think the technical term would be the 'waters that melted from Niflheim.' Because Niflheim was a frozen wasteland I think, and the space in between the two had water.

A time passer that I would've done if I was home, too, but yep.

It's a good way to spend my time while I wait for Oktoberfest to start!

Thank you very much!

Oktoberfest wouldn't do much for me as I don't have the taste buds for beer .

Me either. Mostly I just want to go watch Germans stumble about. I may try a bit, but I'm not a huge beer gal anymore.

Watching drunks can be quite amusing right?  When my friends and I do have a night of fun drinking, we all get loopy and hilarious.
