I don't think Apocryphos would attack him if he's the Heart, if anything, Apocryphos has to answer directly to the Heart. Cross was smart enough, if he was the Heart he wouldn't have even let Apocryphos get Judgement...

But you know how protective parents are? In my experience at least they almost strangle or shake them as they shout at them "NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!" and such
And that guy self apointed himself to care for the heart, I don't think he has the hearts best interest at heart; like catching a bird and trapping it in a cage to protect it?
If we were to consider this more serious maybe he knocked cross out to make it appear like death
Besides Cross was planning to escape around that time so perhaps he knew he would come and left it too late? O^ O" because all the interrogations he hardly had chance right?

Well honestly I've got no idea what Cross was thinking. Apocryphos as a parent seems very strange to me, but that whole 'protect it in a cage' sounds kinda plausible... Though I've gotta point out that we haven't seen what happened to Grave of Maria, she wouldn't let Cross get beaten without a good fight.

I think we will eventually, I mean, Neah's past probably includes Cross' past, and therefore Maria. And yeah, they do, but considering the fact she has doll parts, I think she was outright killed.

My theory: Maria was with Cross and in league with the 14th. When she died/was killed, Cross used magic to resurrect and repair her in a way (out of grief or something? He knew better than to get help from the Earl). Fast forward, when Apocryphos shot him, it left him for dead but he escaped, called for Maria to get him out of the window and to make him invisible, so the Order wouldn't see him running and Apocryphos would still think he was dead. Then he retreated to some safehouse Neah had known about, to recover and wait for Allen to seek him out.

LOL. Actually, I don't believe in that theory, because, well, Lavi was raised without any parents(if he was THEN the theory may be right, because, children tend to follow their parents' footsteps), so there isn't any way for us to say he's his child other than the red hair.

"Cross Marian. His story isn’t as simple as most would probably think.

When he was born, he was in the palms of the wife of a very successful aristocrat. Great life, one would think. But no, it was far more complicated than that.

His parents were friends with Mana and Neah’s. His father, at least, I will explain why later. They had been born before him, and when Mana and Neah’s mother went to see his, she had brought them with her, ‘just to say hi to their future friend’ as she claimed. And they did become ones, very close, even. But after time, things changed a bit, they could barely spend any time together. Cross’ mother insisted that they do not disturb her child from his pre-studies, before going to school, that resulting in Cross’ constant loneliness, disappointment, and fear. He even noticed that the twins started actually agreeing with keeping a safe distance from him. The redhead tried to hide his feelings about it, and succeeded for the most part, the only exception being fatal.

He woke up one day, the first thing within his sight was a head of boy which looked just like his, the body and seemingly age also the same, so he asked the boy who he was in utter shock. The boy replied with „I am the result of your loneliness.”, making Cross ask about exactly what he meant by that, receiving the answer “The Heart of Innocence, a great power, within you saw the pain you were going through, and it created me. I am you, but a tad different, I share your aspects of this world, your intelligence, your appearance, your characteristics, but, our characters are different. I can also feel what you feel….if we are connected in some way or another.” Cross wasn’t completely sure he understood everything, but he knew he accidentally created himself a new friend, and that was enough.

They had played together often, talked about different topics which bothered them both or at least one of them, shared their ideas about something whenever necessary, calming each other down and whatnot, Mana and Neah barely making their acquaintance. He was the only one who could view his emotions as clear as a sunny day, so that’s why Cross named him ‘Sight’. He had been hiding Sight from his rather tyrannical mother, afraid he would lose another friend because of her. Sight had grew into his own person day after day, making Cross proud, and even, almost in love. They still had those characteristics as the same, but, no more than that after a good year and a half anniversary of Sight’s ‘birth’.

And then, Cross’ first school year started. He met with Mana and Neah once more, they didn’t bother telling him why they practically abandoned him almost two years ago, but they started being what they used to be once more. They walked Cross to school, and sometimes vice versa, they played, they studied together….but the long-haired redhead still preferred Sight over them, for many reasons, but he didn’t show it. And Sight, not being able to read his mind anymore because of becoming his own person got more jealous with those two day after day. And at one fateful night, at about 1 am in the morning, Sight’s emotions got so strong that he attacked Cross’ father(because, due to being created by Cross’ Innocence, the Heart, he had some powers of his own, them being quite strong). That was the result of wanting to be the only one in Cross’ life, because his father, the only parent he trusted, and the twins were the other three he led into it.

Cross went to him and told him not to harm anyone anymore, making Sight say “You fool! If I hadn’t come into your life you would have been the one in need of a hospital instead of this worthless relative and those so-called friends of yours! Do not try to outsmart me!”, after which he created a hole in his parents’ bedroom, and escaped through it. His father had a large wound, reason as to why they actually DID go to the hospital. And after some waiting, the doctor admitted that they did the best they could, and now the owner of Marian’s house was gone. The kind, generous, and mostly lazy man that the redhead had learned to love despite constantly being away from his dear son. His ‘dear’ mother just stood there, her face showing zero emotion. After a while his mother went to talk on the phone, while Cross just stared at the wall, thinking “Oh, just plain great. Now what am I going to do?”, after which he stood up and started walking, now thinking about the possibilities of what may happen after his father and best friend left him The only two people who had ever understood me…..How will this affect me? Will I even be able to stand on my own anymore? If I’m anything like Mana I’ll soon be visiting this place once again. And most of all- he accidentally walked in a corridor close to the phone his ‘mommy’ was talking to, hearing her say “Don’t worry, that pathetic man’s going on a permanent visit to his mother’s. Heh. If only I was able to tell him how right she was about me…..just to see his heart shatter before me as dies ‘peacefully’. That would have been so…...pricelessly amusing, to be precise.”, -how will I be able to stand being closer to that monster than ever? he then turned around and soundlessly tip-toed out of her hearing. He looked at the floor for a while, imagining how bitter he would become after being raised the way she wanted him to. He bumped into Neah after some walking. “Hey C, I was just looking for you. Mana had some food poisoning…..” Neah started, scratching his head as he grinned goofily, the last sentence making Cross think Sight… before he continued “…..and I heard you guys coming here, so I wanted to talk to you, you know, for some moral support…..or better yet, to ask you about what happened with that relative of yours.”, which made Cross’ cheeks flush with fury as he replied with “Oh, so NOW you decide to act all caring.”
“What?” was Neah’s answer, in almost utter shock.
“You know what I mean. Two years ago you two practically abandoned me. What? You thought that disgusting creature’s ideals were positive? Were ‘correct’? You know why my father just died?”, the last word made Neah’s eyes widen and irises miniaturize. “Because a few months after you left me to burn in the depth of that woman’s ideals I or something else I couldn’t understand accidentally created a slightly different version of me. We had been best friends ever since then. Why do you think I was so anxious to get away and go home every minute we spend together? That was until hours ago. He attacked my father, reason as to why the doctors couldn’t save him, after which he said that I was a fool if I willingly protected that relative of mine and you two. To be completely honest, I couldn’t agree more, yet, I couldn’t let my father down, and only him. And by the way, I think that brother yours was poisoned by my clone who isn’t that much of a clone of mine anymore.”
Neah smiled and chuckled sadly.”I told Mana not to have a midnight snack....”
“WHY are you smiling? You think it’s funny how you two practically the reason my father is going to be buried without even known what that only biological mother of mine was-“ he interrupted his own words as the other hugged him.
“No. I’m laughing because I lost a bet.”
“Hm?” He asked, utterly puzzled.
“Years ago, when your mother tried to get you away from us, I heard her threaten ours, and since she isn’t exactly…..fearless when it comes to dealing with yours, so she made us spend less and less time together, until we finally moved on. Mana insisted that that would make you so…..upset, to put it all in one word, while I argued with that, saying you’re stronger than that, and that’s where the bet came in……I’m really sorry, Marian, I would never do that to you willingly, I never thought it would end up so complicated…..I truly am sorry.” A tear fell down Neah’s face, small, but Cross was able to feel it.
Neah put his arms away, after which he looked at Cross, not believing how guilty he looked. Cross couldn’t hold his thoughts, so just started “Are you as disappointed of m-“
Neah became unconscious before he could finish that line.
He had also eaten some of the poisoned food, though he didn’t want to upset his friend.
Mana and Neah healed eventually. Then…. Year 5. Leo Wealcan. This fair-haired, gray-eyed boy was average at about everything. His education, his height, his mannerism……something that wasn’t too attractive, but, when a gigantic creature appears from a young female’s body, something that seemed like a gun pointed towards the child the ‘girl’ was talking to. And then Leo came in using some kind of gray-coloured hand of his to destroy it. Leo claimed that the child’s mind was playing tricks on him when he asked what happened. But the trio had seen everything.
Neah admitted to have noticed some strange occurring going on whenever he played on his piano. Afterwards, they went to Leo, asking him about exactly what he had done, he explained unconfidently, after which Cross suggested that they research all of that, before which he explained exactly why they should include Leo in their little group.
And they did, years and years passed as the four fought against those creatures, researching about them and themselves, but, they couldn’t find almost anything. Nothing answered their questions.
Then came Collage.
They met a black-haired and –eyed woman. They discovered that she also knew about these creatures, though she never explained how she found out. Her name was Maria, and she was similar to Mana, in a way, they both had no superpowers, but they fought the traditional way, the only difference being that Mana was more concentrated on flexibility, while she was more concentrated on technique and fighting style.
And then came the final member, Tyki Mikk. He was the son of the headmaster, yet, he had no education. He had been quite like Mana, despite the two constantly insulting each other later on, he was a man of high standards and origin, although, sometimes it was hard to tell because of his laid back nature.
He hadn’t been noticed until a gray-skinned female dropped by to ‘claim the Earl’s possession’ which had been pointed towards Tyki. She had came along with those creatures, like she could control them. Tyki had also fought with his ability to go through objects and have an incredible amount of strength, which made the group accept him in as well……well, that, and he looked and acted like Mana and Neah’s lovechild.
After finishing their studies, they all went to Birmingham, deciding that that should be the place were all their work should be centred around, in their and the regular way.

Sight appeared again, this time only he wanted to battle Cross. He refused, but when thought that he was saving a male from an Akuma, he understood that the man he had been protecting was his old friend.
The said former clone created a force field to make sure his origin wouldn’t ‘try any funny stuff’, even though the rest of the team weren’t even there.
The battle lasted long, it hadn’t been a surprise that Cross learned new ways of attacking, and he was going to fall, that is, if his teammates hadn’t come. They offered him all the moral support they could give, thus allowing the redhead to defeat his opponent, or, to be more precise, separate him into the four kinds of powers – the control over water, air, fire and earth, giving them to Leo, Mana, Neah and Tyki(Neah- water; Mana- air; Leo- earth; Tyki- fire/Tyki and Mana may switch though/).
He hadn’t given any of those to Maria, because she herself admitted to had came with them because she wanted to prove to the world that women could do more than sing and serve…..hintedly that is, Cross figured it out himself, with all that ‘battle language’….though, that was his actual reason, the one he explained his actions with was that he would never trust a woman to do a good job, exaggerating the amount of his misogynistic part a tad bit yet again.

After Neah died, Leo accepting to protect his memories(thus becoming of too much power to contain the power that had been given to him) and Tyki falling under the Earl’s control, Mana was the only one left to seal Sight, and he did for some days, until the loss of his family caused him all of the permanent sanity issues, disabling his ability to keep Sight’s powers, letting him out of that ‘prison’.
He ‘broke into’ Cross’ body, and since the two of them were in it, it created the version of itself we had seen.
But since Sight could only control Cross’ body with some sort of spell, he created the practically glued mask on his/Cross’ face, that creating Judgement, because he could no longer use his Innocence in the form of magic if he were to use said body, though, his powers had grown so strong over the years that could actually use some again.
Cross still had a tad control over his body, of course, since ‘Cross’ couldn’t help but search for Neah for so long due to his strong strong feelings for the beloved Musician, and when he was reunited with Maria again, the feelings he had had for her were also restored. Maria couldn’t (……)
The only way for someone to separate C. and S. one more was if xe shot ‘Cross’ with Judgement in said mask.
And that’s what happened, when Ap. shot him.
While that guard was looking away, they separated, both of them having the need to restore their powers properly, and they were back in the forms they had been 35-36 years before which no one would recognise, so they left the building, breaking a window to make sure no one would suspect their teleportation….or so.

Well, I don't think he is either, but...it seems like the clan had had their own lives before, but because they turned into Noah, their aging process(?) stopped, for a while, at least(Road's the oldest...yet she looks like a nine-year-old.)

Once they become Noah, yeah, I think their aging stops (if Road is any example). But until then it keeps going... And when Neah went and killed the other Noah, he damaged their memories, so it was a while until they were reincarnated into new bodies. I'm thinking Tyki only came around a while after Neah died...

But on the other hand, before that, they could have had...well, "cover" powers, like, IMHC, before Jasdero and Devitto became Noah, they had their own powersstorytime!)

Jasdero had doll-like ones(his body looked like one of a doll's, and his abilities were pretty much Mr. Fantastic's, only that, when he stretched, he increased the number of...detachments his limbs had), while Devit - robotic(to put it shortly, his body parts became robotic, not that they were damaged, they literally became his organism, as oppose to the reason why automail is used, I suppose, I mean...how else would Jasdevi have "the most powerful of bodies"?), and in Jasdero's mind, a form of Jasdevi that was before he became a combination of the twins, appeared, and after they sort of 'gave in' to the Earl...he/Jasdevi/ started merging them, reason why they've become closer and closer, and...kind of/lied a bit there/ started wearing less and less clothing, as well as lose themselves, sorta, you know, they don't seem to talk much...lately.

And the ones Tyki had were the ones which 'helped out' in the said group...

But even if I'm wrong...No big deal, I originally only added Tyki because I found the possible 'twists and turns' in the Neah/Tyki relationship, if they had had one, quite amusing...and I still do, but also because I can kind of see the Mana/Tyki pairing happening, so I won't be bothered if I have to get 'im out. The other five are enough too. And I only made these things because...I really do doubt that Hoshino will give each and every character their own past, mainly because she seems so focused on developing Neah and Allen, and also because I found few headcanons likeable, or eye-catching.

But if they had powers beforehand, wouldn't they still have them? Then again they seem to become completely different people after the Noah memory hits...

I think Hoshino's got backstories for practically every important character in the series. She likes to bring in all these different characters with their own stories and personalities, I think it would just take too long to put them all in the manga, and it's slow coming as it is... maybe one day there will be a Reverse novel dedicated to the Noah and their backgrounds!

It's kind of like the advantages of being a child/adult when writing a novel:
1. If you're a child, you have a lot of imagination, but you lack experience.
2. If you're an adult, you have plenty of experience, but you lack imagination.

In a nutshell, my point is that they've had pre-powers(them replacing imag. here) which were, for some, stronger than their current ones, but, when they became fully-turned-on(if...I can use that...without sounding perverted) Noah, they were replaced by new ones(them replacing exper. here), the advantages of these being the control over Dark Matter/Akuma and blah blah blah, basically every ability a NC member possesses.

I really do hope so...Because I am just plain dying to know what the hell happened to all those psychos
