Description
A keeled skimmer is sitting on the end of an apple tree branch close to a little pond. This species of dragonfly can be found from India to Europe in warm enough temperate climates where it flies around bodies of water from June to November. This individual is a male, males being blue and females brown-yellowish. Dragonflies are a very important in wet environments because they serve as predators to other insects, as larvae in the water and as adults in surroundings. They will for example predate on mosquitoes, which is kind a really great. They are also a very good way to know if a body of water is healthy or not, their absence being a bad sign.
Of course they are also very beautiful to watch, so enjoy!
