Description Shadow's first excursion into the outside world. The tree was just too interesting but she didn't think through the consequences!!

Aww, she's pretty! And climbing trees can be hard. Did she get down alright?
Gizmo had a really hard time to learn how to climb trees. His behind was a bit too heavy compared to the rest of his body when he was a kitten so he fell down all the time.

She's lovely. Great nature and that wide eyed innocent look is permanent!! This was her first venture outside and she went straight up the tree like a natural but then .... realisation: that she's got herself into a bit of a situation!! Getting down is rather less natural! She managed it in the end but with lots of gasps and ahh's from those watching!!

Oh, I know what that's like. My ginger cat, Tintin, was really good at climbing up tall trees as a kitten, but then he couldn't get down. I spent so many hours under big trees, staring up at him and almost dying from fright when he tried to climb down with his head first! (That's really not a good idea.)
Thankfully (for my nerve's sake) he's a much better climber now.

They just don't think things through!! One of the scariest moments was when Amber decided to jump into a neighbours tree from our fence and looked down to discover their two pet labradors below!!

The worst thing I've seen (so far) happened only a few weeks ago. A big, nasty cat had been sneaking around my house, picking fights with my cats. All my cats are neutered, but this one isn't so I think that's why it comes around to fight.

Anyway, that day it chased my baby Oliver up into a utility pole. Oliver must have been terrified because he climbed almost all the way up and was sitting only half a meter from the cables when I found him. I almost panicked because I thought I was going to see him climb all the way up and get electrocuted to death. It was horrible.
Thankfully I managed to stay calm enough to talk him down, but I cried when I finally got hold of him. It would have been an awful way to lose a kitten.

Now that is really worrying. Hope Oliver has learned that it's not the best idea.

I think I'll try to put something around that pole to stop the cats from ever trying to climb it again. Just in case.

Definitely a good idea - worth it for peace of mind!

She is lovely! I love the intense look in her eyes, so serious. This is a beautiful photo.

She also is a cutie! She has never learned to meow so all we get is an open mouth and the slightest squeak comes out! We adopted Shadow and Amber in February last year when they were about 6 months old and they have both been a total delight. We love them to bits!!

That is funny! That is like Jasper! He doesn't really meow. Just opens his mouth and croaks! I was worried! So that is normal? That is wonderful that you adopted them! I have never adopted from a shelter before. All of my cats were taken in from the street. But I do plan on adopting a bunny and two doves from a rescue as soon as my family or I get my own place.

We had a cat who died in 2011 (aged 20) who didn't make any attempt to meow until she went deaf at the age of 18. Then I think the whole village heard her meow: she was so loud!! It's very rewarding adopting an animal whether it be from a shelter or off the street. I think you have done a wonderful thing saving animals from the street and giving them a loving home.

Aww I'm sorry, but wow. She lived a long time. It is very rewarding. Haha I cannot not resist them! We always make sure to catch any stray and get them fixed. Then we adopt them.
