You do so much for these people, no, I mean it, really, you are a one man army, I'll be giving this a good look at.

Exelent work, it was easy to understand, I liked the introduction of shortcut explanations cause those always speed up the process. Very well explained.
By the way, your voice sounds diffrent to how I imagined

I don't talk very much, so my voice isn't very refined. Just monotone everything, very utilitarian.

I guess I speak alot but I'm never generaly that loud either, so I also aquired quite a monotone voice. I was expecting your voice to sound alot deeper though, perhaps a bit more... Burt Reynolds without the accent?

brilliant! i knew most of the stuff you did but its always interesting to see how others do their work. I was wondering, for the fill colour, instead of tracing around the shape again, would it not be easier (in some cases) to simply copy and paste in place the shape, change the fill and stroke and then obviously change the paths to lock them off from one another? Just a thought
Thanks again!

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. I just make a habit of doing it all the same way. I've found that if you use objects fills and strokes together, sometimes you get stroked lines passing through areas you wish were just color. It's probably somewhat of a personal preference, too.

Thank you so much for the invaluable help! I just watched it and there were so many things I didn't know. I'm doing a Computer Arts degree and I didn't even know about "click + expand"!!!
Can't wait for the dvd! Can we pre-order?
And on a personal note, what music do you listen to while you work?

smashmethod In reply to foofango [2006-02-06 21:51:35 +0000 UTC]
Usually something weird like Shpongle, or maybe something more normal like Dave Matthews. As for the DVD, I'm not sure how I'll be distributing the whole thing, but the low-res versions will be online, hopefully.

Hmmm a video!? Why don't you make a pdf for example?

smashmethod In reply to vill [2006-02-06 18:47:48 +0000 UTC]
You can't verbally narrate a pdf. Plus video affords more of a visual here-to-there approach vs. a couple screenshots.

I cant verbally narrate a pdf? Wake up are you sick or something!? Why Adobe Acrobat have a built-in narrator then? And afterwards pdf allowing to show all types of media *including* video content as well as pictures and text.

great tutorial. It offers a lot fo information to basically all skill levels without much confusion.
My only critiques are:
a) Possibly edit in better music while fast-forwarding the recording
b) I want to say get a better mic. It sounded (to me) like there was constant echoing. I'm guessing you have a desktop mic. Headset mics generally don't get any of the ambient noise that desktop mics do. They're pretty cheap, a good logitech one costs like $15
Other than those I have nothing but praise
Good job mr. sexy voice o_0
