Why do you gotta rip on a guy for putting up his art? People like it so they it, simple as that. Why bitch about what the people say is cool? Im sure you wouldn't appreciate it if someone said your stuff didn't belong in DTF. At least give a critque instead of a jab at smashmethod. But to outright attack smashmethod for it seems kind of immature. Just my point of view.

"the whole me and smashmethod thing"...??? wtf? Just because some religious-related deviation struck a nerve with you because it doesn't follow your beliefs, you think it's ok to constantly bash and flame Smash with your ignorantly idiotic remarks? No one cares about your meaningless, pointless, & moronic nonsense... as I'm sure you will point out that you don't care about mine either, since you aren't exactly number one at coming up with your own material.

Wirestyle...if you dont like it don't fav it. Shockreflex has nothing to do with the reason that it's on the front page. I could ask the same question for about 3/6 of things in the DTF just about everyday. I'm sure most people could agree with me.

Actually, just because it's a render doesn't make it 3d. This is simply a picture with 3d elements, and the main parts of the image aren't even 3d, so it would better fit in another category.
It's fairly simple to see what parts are 3d too, but I shall not ruin it for any novices still racking their brains.

Reminds me of 'Caddyshack', when Bill Murray goes for the gopher at the end with plastic explosives.

I guess the whole scene is done in 3dsm, character in illustrator and imported in 3dsm as a opacity-map.
Its some wonderfull shit.

that's awesome!!!
I think it would be cool if his grin was wider or something to tip him off to the "look this kid is insane" look.
Anyway, it looks great!

Just a little bit... I'm not sure if that is even it, something about his mouth looks a bit off.

that is one crazy little kid. nice looking, very nice vectorish highlights.

The handel to the plunger seems a bit too long. The highlights on the hills look odd ontop of the shadows from the debris.
I like the lack of outlining though. Explodo boy needs a dog/animal companion.

What a FUN piece of work.
Yeah, this is 3d? Not vektor? What did you use to render it?

IvoryDrive In reply to smashmethod [2004-07-21 18:21:44 +0000 UTC]
this doesn't look like any toon shader I've seen used with max, the only 3d pieces I see are the shrapnel and the explosions, nothing else looks like it could have been rendered... unless you added the highlights in post production. but that's just me

Depth of field. The focus, is in focus.

If you ask me, it distracts more than puts the focus on the focus.

You asked for my opinion when you put it up for comments.
π: 0 β©: 1
Naz-O In reply to smashmethod [2004-07-21 03:59:00 +0000 UTC]
Then what do you call submitting? I mean, this is a community where art that IS submitted gets commented on. If you dont like comments, or rather just the negetive ones, or even better, the ones you dont agree with, then dont post the shit.
π: 0 β©: 2
smashmethod In reply to Naz-O [2004-07-21 04:07:32 +0000 UTC]
Putting it up for viewing/commenting is in no way specifically asking for a comment from everyone who looked at it. If that were the case, there would be 88 comments on this right now. The option to leave a comment is up to the viewer, whether I ask for comment or not.
At no point did I say I didn't like the comments (or rather just the negative ones, or even better the ones you don't agree with), you just said "If you ask me," -- and fact is, I didn't. Do you have a note, or specific request from me saying "Naz-O, please leave a comment on this."
Didn't think so.
π: 0 β©: 1
Naz-O In reply to smashmethod [2004-07-21 04:19:03 +0000 UTC]
Well, I will give you that it is a valid point, that you specifically did not ask for my comment, but I still stand by my statement that if you do post, the expect comments whether you like them or not. And grow up a little, hows that sound?
