I can picture Luigi and Dimentio fighting for control as super Dimentio, which was probably why Dimentio brainwashed Luigi before fusing with him and the chaos heart, because he knew Luigi would never do anything like that willingly. If Luigi was free, he'd b willing to fight for control, even if it means giving up everything to prevent Dimentio from breaking free and wrecking havoc, much less hurting all of Luigi's friends and Family.
