For background on this character: Melody is actually a prominent succubus character I write. She's very powerful and tempting, but she isn't evil in the slightest. She actually takes pride in giving love and intimacy to those who are genuinely lonely, or helping the sensitive and reclusive open themselves up a bit. She's less "skimpy infernal fantasy stripper" and more high class escort or courtesan. Not every man craves skimpily-dressed women with no personality. (I'd even suggest those men are highly overrepresented by culture)   

She's skilled in a number of arts including classic literature readings, string instruments, brewing the perfect tea and... well, yes, she can bend gender on request. That seems like something she'd offer if she thinks a "client" would enjoy the experience, or if perhaps maybe they feel emotionally disconnected from people of the other gender and thus missing out on part of what it means to be human. Of course, the client gets the final say on that, she wouldn't ever force the issue to "teach a lesson" or anything like that. Just open it as a chance to experience some beautiful new vistas with no pressure on accepting or judging a refusal.

In-universe she's also sort of the matron and political representative of succubi and semi-unofficially the consort to Hell's queen. She puts a great deal of effort on trying to ensure the up and coming fresh-born succubi learn good values. She's convinced the brute force stereotype for succubi isn't as effective as her means.
