I once lived with a cat who liked to lick people, almost the way a dog would (and she had a dog's appetite, too!). Getting my wrist licked by her for a prolonged amount of time was...an unforgettable experience. That's all I will say on the subject!

Actually, for the first time I'm starting to wonder about the mechanics behind Ariel's transformation. When Ursula changed her, did she alter Ariel's DNA as well? The only specific changes (other than being struck mute, of course, which is not a human attribute) she wrought in Ariel are legs and the elimination of gills. So if Ariel had bled, would she have shed human blood or fish blood? And what about the membranes that would have shielded her eyes to stop water from getting into them? Were they gone once she was human?

Indeed. I'm a child of the 1990s, so I've (unfortunately) gotten into the habit of deeply pondering things that are pretty absurd. In fact, now that I think about it, in retrospect Ariel's transformation can be seen as a metaphor for transgenderism.
