Description Smilodon fatalis full reconstruction. Fur pattern inspired by BBC's Walking With Beasts' Smilodon and that of a jaguar. Seems fitting for a cat that made its living by being a phantom ambush assassin. I also realize that the tail might be a little tooo small but thats how it came out and i'm still happy with it. Took a long time to finally capture smilodon in a way that I like.

ALSO, the teeth are "unsheathed" as of now. Smilodon was one of the only machairodont (saber-toothed) mammals without a mental flange large enough to encompass the canines. Homotherium, Xenosmilus, Megantereon and other sabertooths had chins plenty deep enough to "sheath" their canines, but smilodon - gracilis, fatalis and populator don't play by the same rules. Further experimentation, research and sketches will be needed.

anyhow, hope you guys like it.

Great work! What do you think about my interpretation of Smilodon's lips?
