Adopts are original character(OCs) that people make and then "sell" to other people for points or money.
Points can help you have a Premiun Membership or pay for commisions(art that you request for other people to do), and buy Prints.If you want to know more on the up left on the site, there is Deviantart logo, on the site of it there's an arrow poiting down, click on there and go to points subject, there you'll find more information about points and what to do with it.
