Description
A unique and minimalistic watch inspired by the planetary orbits in our fascinating Solar System.
The problem
Most of the conventional watches are fully designed with numbers, lines and then you have the pointers. That could be annoying for some people, especially those who prefer simplicity.
I believe, because we are somehow used to see the whole clock concept, it seems ‘clear’, when it actually isn’t.
Would you prefer a watch that shows you the exact time, that shows you just what you need to see in a very quick way? Or would you prefer a watch where you already have all the hours and minutes displayed on, however just the actual time is pointed out?
The solutionThis project will aim to communicate the current time in a very simplistic way to people who loves space. ‘Orbit Watch’ is a watch, which will only show you what you need to see; the current time.
By using an almost blank surface with just only 2 holes to show the hours and minutes, the aim for a smarter and faster time reading will be achieved.

That's really cool! It looks great, especially with the stars
I am not so sure about the increments used for minutes, I would prefer more precise numbers. I realize though, that space is really limited and there is no way you get all 60 numbers into a circle like that, even if you switched hours and minutes in this design. If it was an entirely digital watch tho, where the numbers are generated, it would work easily.
Another problem might be readability if the numbers are aligned to the circles, as you may have to turn arm/head to read it as quick as possible.
Another benefit of a digital version, would be an option to switch between am/pm and a 24h system. I could imagine a surface like on the kindle fire, that looks like its paper and is not reflective, thus would help keep up readability.
I love the minimalist appearance, it's very contemporary and has a strong concept, with the orbits!

That would actually be fantastic... it would need to be something subtle tho to match the concept.

Like it! The addition of the slight star pattern also adds a little something extra, without overdoing it
