You asked facts about our dear neighbour, facts you get >D (I'm a (proud) Finnish)
-Finland and Sweden have kinda good relationships... except that we like to fool with each other, meaning basicilly, that Finnish don't go to Eurovision singing contest to win the whole contest, just Sweden ^^' And maybe vice versa?
-Swedish people are quite polite (compared to Finnish, at least)
-They had ABBA [link] , the great pop music group which was really popular, but because they sung in english and not in swedish, swedish people didn't like it as much as other world did.
-Swedish isn't that hard language, we finnish students have to learn it in schools, so I know And swedish is similar to danish, norwegian and Iceland's language.
-Sweden belonged to Denmark, but that was mentioned in Hetalia, so you may know it already ^^'
-It's capital is Stockholm >D
Sorry, I just told some simple facts that almost everyone knows and probably have mentioned... (Swedish people: Your country is nice, sorry if it seems like I'm mocking it, because I'm not.)

Omg wow
THANK YOU
Sweet finnish, awwww
All of your facts are cute, haha And wow... how many language can you speak
Say, so what are the relationship between Denmark and Sweden and Finland like?

Suiggari-Tou In reply to smilyimp [2009-05-14 12:31:21 +0000 UTC]
No problem :3 I can speak english, finnish, swedish, german and some japanese. And a few words from random languages, but they don't count xD
Since Denmark is quite far from Finland, we don't have as close relationship as we have with Sweden, but with Sweden... I think that we both tell jokes about each other. In Finland we tell swede-jokes and vice versa, maybe. I've heard that even norwegians tell Swede-jokes O_o
I haven't visited Sweden and I don't know many swedes, so I really can't say anything about Denmark's and Sweden's relationships, sorry... D:

We don't tell as much jokes about Finland as we do about Norway actually^^ But I think we might have som about finnish people too (I just don't really know any^^) Sorry I just had to chime in^^ Regards from Sweden! 8D<3

Nonono, it's nice to help ^^ And I'm sorry I couldn't help you with that Denmark-question D:
Really? Thank u, usually people say Finnish are cold people who laugh rarely... And I've lived here for my whole life, so it's sad to say, but it's true, finnish are shy D: But I'm way too hyper to be an average finnish, and people usually think that I'm weird O_o

helt underbar! Γ€lskar glasΓΆgonen
this is great, can you tell me what this character is for, or more abut him? and what dose those sings in the upper left mean?
Swedish facts, well its hard to say anything that not has already been said but we can start off with a fun fact.
the Swedish word for marriage is the same word as for poison .
swearing is common in the Swedish everyday language (unlike English Swedish swearing dose not focus on sex, but mostly around hell or the devil), I remember a character from a children show I saw when I was a kid were one of the charters had the catchphrase "fy fan vad bra" witch can be translated to "thats fucking great"
we still got a King and queen but they have no power.
we remained neutral during the second world war, however many Swedish solders voluntarily joined the Finnish army to defend them when the Russians attacked.
Sweden are a major producer of weapons, all from land mines to jet fighters and anti-tank rocket launchers used by army's all around the world, but ironically we have been in peace for over 200 years
well I can continue but I do not want to bore you, and once again great work

Hahaha, awww, thank you for the fun facts!!!! They didn't bored me at all! I really enjoy those
The more fact I read, the cooler I think Sweden is, hahahaha You can tell me moreee
(Extra love to the fact about Sweden & Finland Because, in this series, haha, they're on a really good term with each other
)
Anyway, the anime/manga series he's from is 'Hetalia', which is also what written at the upper left corner
If you've been to the club here --> [link] you'll see more countries and some information about the series Thank you

I love the idea of making the countries into characters I got to check it out some day.
anyway, hmm, Sweden Finland facts.
well I think you already knew that Sweden occupied Finnland way back.
well the Swedish and Finnish languge is nothing alike, I as Swedish can understand both Danish and Norwegian as long as they dont talk to fast, but I cant understand Finnish at all.
I have heard that in some parts of Finland they still study the Swedish language in school, but I do not know if thats true, I guess you have to ask a Finn.
Finns that learn Swedish gets a very special accent called finlandsvenska, this accent is very poplar in Swedish media since the accent makes them sound extremely kind and thought full.
I do not think I know anymore as for now.

As for the name Berwald; all I've ever heard of it is a concert hall called "The Berwald Hall" (Berdwaldhallen), and I looked it up, and apparently it's named after a composer named Franz Berwald, so I guess it's a last name

Hey....funny thing, I searched several name generators, both swedish and non-swedish, not a single one of them could find the name Berwald...sometimes I wonder where authors get their stuff from ^^
Random facts about Sweden..I hate these kind of things 'cause it's mostly just a bunch of rumours..okey...so...
A few things I think people should know:
*Not every swede, is tall, blonde, and blue-eyed...we also got a bunch of brunettes alot of red-heads ( I am one).
*There are no ice-bears walking around on the streets ( someone asked me that once)
*Even though, Swedish is concidered as one of the hardest languages to learn, I have met several people who had learned it in 6 month, and mastered it within 2 years, that just depend on how good you are with languages....
*The country is divided in 25 different parts, similar as to to USA have different states...we got different dialects, and even different folk-costumes (that only few people uses when ceelebrating midsummerr)
*SkΓ₯ne, that is in the way south (where I live) once belonged to Denmark, there are alot of joking about that they ill take us back again...
Ummm....just ask if there's something you want to know...I be glad to help ^^

Oh, and Finland belonged to us once...in fact this year is 200 years since we lost Finland or started the peace I'm not sure which it is, anyway, we celebrate it by using a different, special "krona" ( that's our currency) on the back of the sillvercoin it says " The wonderful tale about tha country on the other side of the sea"....

What about you, you're from Thailand, right? So that is Thai and English, do you speak any more languages, and are there any neighburing countries who have a simmilar language so that you can understand it? I've always wondered about that
π: 0 β©: 1
smilyimp In reply to MattyRoh [2009-03-01 02:04:32 +0000 UTC]
Thai and English, yes
And I'm learning some Japanese (Just enough to read doujinshi, haha
)
All neighbor countries are using different languages And I don't understand a bit
Chinese are quite popular in some of them, though
I like how each country has their language Unique
π: 0 β©: 1
MattyRoh In reply to smilyimp [2009-03-02 12:02:20 +0000 UTC]
German is by far the least popular of the languages you can learn after English in Norway. (The others being Spanish and French)I would love to learn Japanese, is it difficult? Is it usual to learn another foreing language besides from English in Thailand?
π: 0 β©: 1
smilyimp In reply to MattyRoh [2009-03-03 15:03:30 +0000 UTC]
Japanese can't be more difficult than European languages
It depends on the level of usage, I mean, haha,
if you just want to read the manga, it won't be difficult
But a newspaper...
In Thailand, Chinese is very popular Many people learn it as a third language here
And I think since China is becoming globally active,
Chinese will become a lot more popular in the west as well
