Description
Tada! It's Hooligan, Fox's other Equestrodon- an original species by Notesz . So far, Fox has four of these little buggers but I have not paid for the other two yet and therefore have not drawn them obviously. Hooligan I have had for a while though, I bought him and Voodoo at the same time.
Hooligan is supposed to be smaller than Voodoo but I don't think I scaled him well with Fox here but oh well. He's shorter in leg and more stocky than most Equestrodons, I kind of modeled him after the Gypsy Vanner which is why he has so much HAIR. He is very hard to keep clean but is a stunning animal when he is, flashy in color and with just the most graceful collected movement. However, though he looks absolutely stunning, he has the WORST personality. As his name implies, he is not ever on his best behavior. Though fearless and fiery with a brave and unshakeable nature, Hooligan is notoriously great at shows and things as neither the cheer of crowds or the sounds of cannon fire or really much of anything frighten him. He is bold, brazen and above all curious, more likely to sniff at and chew on a new object than he is to run from it. He does love to run, he has a lot of energy and it takes a lot of Fox's attention to keep him happy throughout the day. But he is also stubborn as a mule and very difficult to handle, always more interested in what he wants to do than what Fox tells him to. He very much has his limits- once he reaches the end of his patience with you that day, you will know it. He'll either buck you off or will just stop responding to commands entirely, often walking off casually to go do his own thing even with a rider on his back.
He was bought at the same time as Voodoo but it a bit younger than the larger Equestrodon. They get along though as they were together at their previous home, so they are rarely far from each other and Voodoo's more calm, more laidback demeanor is often calming for the both of them. But Hooligan was appropriately named, he is always getting into stuff. He's deceptively smart and can figure out how to work doors and things to access food or toys whenever he feels he needs to, and he tends to blow off discipline so discouraging him from doing this only makes him want to do it more, just to prove that he can. Because he is so self-absorbed and is not at all interested in pleasing his rider, Fox has to ride him with a bridle at least, if not also a saddle. She does not like to use tack on her animals unless it is specifically requested or necessary for training, but Hooligan is just too much animal to handle without some form of tack. The bridle is always bitless however, Fox is not about to inflict pain on her animals to get them to do what she wants, and Hooligan is a perfect example of this. He'd probably be much easier to control with a bit as he is not a fan of pain and can be a sissy about it if you let him. But Fox is as set in her ways as he is in his so, no bits, just some kind of hackamore or something, it's better than nothing at least.
Because Hooligan is younger than Voodoo, he's been trained less, so Fox does mostly ground work with him, but he is able to be ridden by her if no one else. He will also tolerate her mate Cyrath, a dragon druid whom Fox lives with in a swampy area a noticeable but manageable distance from the stables where she spends most of her time, she returns to the cave to sleep and eat sometimes and that's pretty much it. Cyrath is Hooligan's main rider but getting hom to cooperate is like pulling teeth, the two fight each other constantly and for a long time, Cyrath ends up in the mud more often than not. But with a combination of Fox and Voodoo's support, he manages to take Cyrath across the land to help earn Fox some freedom by getting her collar removed. After that long journey is over, Hooligan is mostly well trained. But for some reason, he and Cyrath butt heads like crazy, so the two are often at odds, Hololigan loves to tease and mess with Cyrath by chewing on his clothes and pulling his hair and such. But Fox loves him so Hooligan comes around eventually.
Again, Hooligan is smaller (or at least notably shorter) than Voodoo, it's just not clear here because I made Fox too small. He's a pretty small coldblood, but he is stocky and powerful and fast and flashy. A beautiful animal to look at, but not so much in the behavior department.
He hates to get dirty, he doesn't like being out in the mud or the rain and would rather stay clean in a stall in the barn. Unlike Voodoo, he hates swimming. He loves to steal items though like hats or gloves or a jacket left draped over the fence or anything like that. He'll grab it and take off and getting it back from him is like parting the ocean- it's pretty much impossible. He gets along very well with cats for some reason, they are always in or around his stall.
So...yeah.... Hooligan.x3 He's not my favorite of my Equestrodon characters but he has a cute and quirky personality and I like it. Also lots of fluff, so much fluff, why all of the fluff, why.
