βMany things--such as loving, going to sleep, or behaving unaffectedly--are done worst when we try hardest to do them.β - C.S. Lewis
[This was inspired by quite a few things, one of which is my inability to get proper sleep lately. Expect to see more of me sleeping in odd locations for photos...]

Really like the theme of the photo, Pixel. Did you use photoshop to add color for the tracks? You should definitely explore the concept more, I think it's a pretty good idea.

I did indeed alter the colors with PS. And yes, I'll be having fun finding odd places to "sleep."

This one has quite a surreal feel to it. It looks like the moment before you wake up in an Inception-like dream and you need to complete a weird and complicated task in order to wake up. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this theme!

Thank you! It was really fun to shoot it, too. I feel like maybe I went overboard a bit with the colors. I don't know--I guess I'm feeling like I'd like to start trying a bit of a more monochromatic feel to my images. I don't want the blast of colors to ever come across as tacky, if that makes sense. I'll likely be branching my work in a few different directions over the coming months...

You're welcome!
To me, at least, the colours don't look too garish. "Realistically surreal", rather.

Ah, I loooove the word garish! Sorry, I just don't hear it used often enough! Anyway, I'm glad to hear that it seems as such to you, because that's what I was going for!

You're very lucky, Kindra. I live in town, and sometimes I'd like to be in a quiet place, as we can admire on some of your pics.

Well I live in a fairly crowded suburb of Seattle, WA, but there is a lot of natural beauty to be had around here, if you go looking for it.

And you said you're in France, right? Because I want to visit France and other areas of Europe, too! The countrysides over there look so beautiful.

I'm totally agree with you Kindra, but I said only I'm francophone, not French!
I should rather say: I'm a French-Canadian.
Sorry.

Yup! Now, I know you have never seen my deviant's page. The cities of Quebec and Montreal are an awesome places to visit.
That's less expensive than Europe!

I don't know when it will be possible. I need money to buy some computer equipments. Also, I'm not very sure
if I'm quite talented, because I'm not really an artist!

Well, I'd like to make some drawings. And, I'm very interested to know much more concerning digital-art and photomanipulation, but I'm a pee-wee for now. Photography is very interesting too, but I'm not also gifted than you. I have perhaps a little bit of artistic sense, the future will tell...

I'd love to see anything you create! Don't undermine yourself--everyone has to start somewhere, and we're all on a journey of some sort. I still have so far to travel. I'll always be traveling this journey, but the journey is the fun part, not the end destination!

Brotherslaughter In reply to SmokyPixel [2012-07-03 20:19:27 +0000 UTC]
Sorry, Kindra. I have sent a comment to the wrong deviant! :stupideme: I'm agree with you, Kindra. Create is a infinite travel which reverals the wonders or the horrors of our inner world.
That is what make the beauty of Art.
And, I think that I can create a good things.
You'll see the worse gallery that you never seen of your life!

yup...wicked pretty colors! Just be careful were you sleep, trains have a nasty way of affecting sleep...and...well...life...
anyways great job!

SmokyPixel In reply to M-L-Griffith [2012-07-01 01:43:08 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! These tracks are long unused--as you can see by all the beautiful growth. I often walk them when I'm in need of some "me" time. But touche about trains affecting sleep, hahaha.

M-L-Griffith In reply to SmokyPixel [2012-07-01 06:30:35 +0000 UTC]
sounds nice. "me" time is always nice to have and having such a peaceful place (at least it look peaceful from your picture) to have that time is wicked awesome.
...dont forget life. trains greatly affect life as well...especially if your sleeping on the tracks of said train.

well, I wish you good luck on catching the sunshine and a beautiful sunrise. I have been trying to catch some sunrises for at least a week. Stupid Oregon weather seems to be plotting against me and my mission to take a picture of the most awesome-ist sunrise ever.

Oh you're in Oregon? I'm up here in Washington, and our weather tends to mimic pretty closely the weather of Portland (I'm in the Seattle area). So I am right there with ya!
