…Translation: Ourang Medan’s profile drawing is done! I’d been planning her drawing for quite some time, and despite how hectic things have been for me lately I still managed to finish and release her on Halloween like I wanted (although by this point I believe Halloween is already over in most time zones)!

So, here are the notes:
-Although her original design needed an upgrade (or at the very least an art update!), I actually really liked the overall vibe of the original, so I tried to stay true to its spirit. As such, I focused on modifying the smaller details rather than the larger ones.
-I wanted to lean more into her Indonesian heritage for this new look. As such, her dress is designed to resemble a sarong, albeit one with sleeves, shoulders, and a collar.
-Relatedly, I redesigned her scarf so it now resembles a traditional Batak accessory called ulos . Specifically, I based it on the ulos sibolang variety; although I struggled to find solid information on the different types of ulos, from what I was able to gather it seems like this kind is sometimes worn at funerals, which fits Ourang Medan’s vibe as well as her status as the subject of a ghost story.
-She’s floating a few inches off the ground here, hence why the anchor on her belt appears to be on the ground while her feet aren’t. Originally the anchor was going to be hanging like that too, but I changed my mind as I simply liked it better this way.
-Yes, her hand and leg bones are accurate! I had a lot of fun with them, but the hand ones were also really tedious.
-Her shoes are different now, but I kept them mismatched and multicolored like they were in the original drawing.
-Her scythe is bigger and more realistic now!
-The title for this one comes from The Rot by Aviators!
